DRA Testing
The DRA window for testing runs from January 21st to February 7th. According to the district assessment timeline, all students need to be tested. Like before, interventionists and resource room will test the bottom 40%tile (based on your January NWEA reading test) in grades K-3. After your class does NWEA reading, interventionists will print a class report and communicate who they will DRA from your class. Therapeutic room and grades 4-5, please reach out to us if there are any students you would like assistance with testing.
We realize that the DRA window doesn’t line up well with report cards, so feel free to get started with your higher kids if you want to.
Since we have so many new folks, here are a few nuts and bolts about DRA:
- Not every teacher has a full DRA kit, so grade levels will need to share. If there is a title you need, ask your teaching partner, then an interventionist. All masters can be found here.
- We follow the scoring rubric on the back of each DRA testing packet to determine if the student falls in the intervention, instructional, independent, or advanced range for a level.
- For our friends new to Beaumont: please let an interventionist know if you have questions on administering or scoring a DRA. They are happy to have you observe them doing a DRA and will make sure you feel comfortable with the process.
- Teachers enter DRA scores on Illuminate by February 14th.
- You may find it helpful to brush your class up on retelling, favorite/most important part, author’s message, and/or connections during read aloud or other whole group times.

Indoor Recess:
Indoor Recess Guidelines:
1. Students may only be in their own classroom. They are not allowed to travel from classroom to classroom.
2. Students must be in a classroom- not in the hallways
3. Teachers- please only give 2-3 options for activities for students to participate in. Once a student has chosen an activity, they should stick with it the entire recess.
4. Please post their options someplace visible (door, whiteboard, TV, etc) for noon supervisors or myself to help manage your room.
5. Currently we are short-handed. If you have suggestions on how to actively supervise multiple classrooms, please share.
6. Any other feedback on lunch or recess is welcome.
