Notes from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Congrats to Daniel Wei who finished as runner-up in the UCPS Spelling Bee today! A fixture there at the end in this and recent years, the young man proved himself a gentleman as he gracefully congratulated the winner at the program’s end. Good job Daniel!
Congrats also to Coach Bass and the WMS Robotics Team for another stellar performance last weekend at the Vex Robotics Competition, this time taking home the Judge’s Award for a display of exemplary teamwork and perseverance.
Although they wrapped up the regular season with a girls’ win last night against Cuthbertson, let’s remember that all eyes on our on us next week for the UCPS Basketball Tournament. We expect not only to host a quality county-wide tournament, but also to remain participants through championship games at WHS on Friday. Don’t forget our very own Coaches Grieser and Simmons remain UCPS Champions, and I do not foresee anyone taking that title with ease. For better or for worse, both boys and girls play at 8:15pm Monday and Tuesday, respectively...and it’s worth noting that our Cheer Team with Coaches Seaborn and Sutthoff remain here to serve BOTH teams! Go Wildcats!
Please remember that the UCPS Basketball Tournament begins here at WMS on Monday, and that event will significantly increase afternoon traffic on and around campus on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Happy Friday, and enjoy your weekend!

Career Day 2020 will be Friday April 24th from 8:30am-11:00am. If you know anyone interested in sharing their career with our middle school students, please share the sign-up link below. The Career Day Information for Presenters link has a video that outlines answers to frequently asked questions by our presenters. If you know anyone who is interested that doesn’t live in the area, we are also able to setup video conferencing. Mr. Vreeland’s son presented for us last year from California, and it was a great experience. We are also able to accommodate a speaker if they are only available for one or two sessions, we just need to know up front.
Please let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your help in recruiting for career day 2020!

If you send a note for your student to be in the office at 3:00 pm and you arrive after the 3:15 pm deadline, if your student is not in the office waiting for you the office staff will not call your student out of class. When students are absent it is not necessary to call the school. Be sure to send a note to the homeroom teacher stating why the student was not in school. UCPS will notify you through Connect-Ed if your student was
