Tech Tip on Classroom Management
Yes, kids want to listen to music. Yes, this is ok to allow them to do so. But PLEASE do not allow them on You Tube. This is simply too distracting for them, and they take more time finding the video they want and this takes away from instruction. Have them use Pandora or Soundcloud instead as music choices.
Internet Access at Home for our students
According to our students in the recent PBIS survey in December (of which 589 students completed the survey), 84% said they DO have access to the internet at home. 10% said they did NOT have access, and 6% did not answer. Please consider this when assigning homework. This means that our students have access for the most part, but this also means we cannot require internet based homework on a nightly basis. You can, however, assign internet based homework on a weekly basis where students have various options on completing it, whether it be at home or during down time in the school day. Also, keep in mind that the device they are using to access the internet may look very different for every child. We simply asked what their access was and not the HOW part.
