Other Testing Info!
Student Absences, Late Arrivals and Make-Up Exams:
- Students who arrive late to an exam must report in by a minimum late time or they will not be allowed into the testing room. Students who arrive late must complete the exam by the scheduled end time. For example, if you arrive late to an AM exam at 9:45 AM, you will only have until the scheduled end time to complete the exam, which is 11:00 AM.
- Uniform admission deadlines – No student may enter any exam after 10:00 AM, or 2:00 PM, or be excused before 10:00 AM or 2:00 PM from the exam room.
- Students arriving to school after the 8:00 AM exam start MUST enter through the WELCOME CENTER and will be escorted to testing room.
- Students are required to be in their testing site for a minimum of 2 hours. After that, they can leave with teacher permission and go directly to the cafeteria. If they are done testing for the day and have an arranged ride home, they are to leave campus.
- Absences from NYS Regents exams CANNOT be made up until the next scheduled administration in June or August.
- Students who are absent from a Midterm or Final exam are required to immediately provide medical verification (on doctor’s stationery) to the Attendance Desk.
- NO MAKE UP EXAMS WILL BE PERMITTED DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE EXAM OR BUS SCHEDULE OR FOR LATENESS. Please ask in advance if you have questions or if you need clarification.
- The High School Administration will determine student eligibility for make-up exams and reserves the right to grant such opportunity in unique and/or extenuating circumstances.
- Unexcused absences from a Midterm or Final exam result in a grade of zero.
Conflict Room (Library): Students and parents are encouraged to review the testing schedule for conflicts (more than one exam at a time/overlapping exam) and these should be reported to the students’ classroom teachers. Students should have a discussion with their teachers and guidance counselors in an attempt to develop a sensible plan to avoid any testing conflict. This may include one of the exams at an alternate time. On the day of the test, all Regents Exams are the priority and must be administered FIRST.
In the event that the exam conflict cannot be avoided, students should report to the designated testing site for the first exam. Upon completion of the exam, the student should quietly raise his/her hand, identify to the proctor that he/she has to take another exam and then be escorted to the conflict room. Students should consider bringing lunch, or a snack if appropriate. Lunch will be provided if desired.
Visitors: Visitors will NOT be permitted into the building while exams are being administered.
