The 2021-2022 School Year is Here
The first week of the school year is in the rearview mirror. It is great to see all students and staff in our buildings, all day, every day or week. The energy and excitement that kids bring to our classrooms has never been so appreciated. We will send out this newsletter at least monthly and it will be posted on our website as well. This source of information is intended to be supplemental to communications from our schools. We appreciate your patience and grace as we navigate this new school year. We are adhering to the state face coverings and staff vaccination mandates, while following the Ready Schools, Safe Learners Resiliency Framework, updated on September 9, 2021.
Health & Safety Practices and Procedures
With all staff and students in our buildings during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are challenged with meeting the social and academic needs of our students while maintaining safe and healthy spaces to limit transmission of the virus. During this first week of school our staff and students did an amazing job of learning the procedures and expectations for being safe and responsible. As with all aspects of education, we will continue to adapt and make adjustments as needed. For example: at Oaklea MS and Laurel Elementary this week, we learned that we needed more space for students to eat lunch. On Monday we have 20'X40' tents being setup to accommodate students eating outside. This should help with spacing until the weather turns colder, which by then we are hopeful the virus cases will be on a downward trend. The Ready Schools, Safe Learners Resiliency Framework has been updated and includes links to all of the resources we follow to keep our schools safe, and make decisions regarding screening, testing and quarantine requirements.
