Westwood High School Athletic Schedules

For all Westwood High School Athletic Events. Please note that schedules are subject to change.

Week in Review

It was an interesting start to the school year and all things considered, it went really well. It is hard to believe it has been over 6 months since we have been in school. The student body did a fantastic job adjusting to wearing masks and the many changes asked of them. I was impressed with how well they did.

Fall sports are in high gear with our athletic teams continue to compete at high levels. Some positive news from last week was that high school football was reinstated, with practice starting on Tuesday, September 8, with the first game on Friday, September 18.

Please remind your child to avoid groupings and practice physical distancing throughout the school day. If everyone continues to do their part it will allow us to return to some sort of normalcy, sooner than later.

Vaping and E-Cigarette Information for Parents

We are seeing an increase in the amount of students using e-cigarettes and vaping devices. Below are some links to help support and educate our parents about the types of devices and the health effects vaping can have on our students. Please take some time to review this information and have a conversation with your child about the potential health impacts of vaping.

In addition, to help monitor and control the vaping that occurs in the high school we have installed vape detectors in all of the bathrooms and locker rooms. When the device is triggered it time stamps the event and sends a notification to staff. This allows us to use the video cameras to determine who was in that location at the time the vape was detected.

Student Drivers

If you have a child who drives to school, please remind them to drive responsibly when they are on school property, this includes the parking lot, the service drive between the high school and Aspen Ridge, as well as Westwood Drive. Being able to drive to school and use our parking facilities is a privilege not a right so please encourage your child to be responsible . There will be law enforcement on campus and any reports of hazardous driving may result in parking privileges being revoked. We trust our students to make good choices and I am confident they will continue to do so.
