Classical Conversations
of Broken Arrow Week 11 Recap
"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And has made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." Revelations 5:8-10
Classical Chats
"Preparing yourself will give you more opportunities to learn the skills needed to participate in the Great Classical Conversations with your children. Conversations can open up new ideas, perspectives, and experiences that will enlarge your family's outlook on the temporal, the eternal, the nature of man, the streams of history, the purpose of leadership and service, the price of freedom, and our personal responsibilities. Your student's situation, purpose in life, and personality will dictate how he she serves the Lord. Your job is to equip them with the tools of learning and that includes three things- how to study words well (grammar), how to process thoughts logically (dialectic), and how to wisely act upon the logic of those thoughts (rhetoric)."
How are your preparing yourself to participate in the "Great Conversation" with your children?
Do you read 15 minutes a day for self education?
Do you participate in book discussions? What has worked for you? Share some things on our facebook page.

Week 11 and Beyond
Foundations to Challenge
This week we learned the geography of Eastern Europe. Our focus of the history and timeline and of our studies throughout the cycles of history is to get a broad sense of the history that occurs on each continent. This week, our geography will pave the way for future studies of the Eastern Roman Empire (Constantinople/Istanbul), and of the history of Russia, its transformation into the Soviet Union, and its return to a confederation of states. Knowing that these places on the map prepares students for reading history and literature set in the these cities and countries, and for a study of world history in Challenge IV.
