Positive Office Referrals! Tuesday 1:30-2:00
This week I am taking Positive Office Referrals on Tuesday 1:30-2:00
* YOU CAN NOMINATE A STAFF MEMBER!
* Remember- always send the student and the referral. Please do not place referrals in my box. If you are a resource teacher, give the referral to the teacher so they can send them at 1:15.
Any student for any reason can be referred for a positive phone call home. Academic, behavior, attitude, kindness, etc... be sure to target those who need it most!
Things to know...
* Monday- Spring Concert at 6:00 pm
* We are running another Spring Fundraiser! The PTA and the school are splitting the proceeds 50/50! I challenge every teacher to buy or sell one item! We could combine staff orders and earn prizes for the school.
* Classroom Meetings should happen 3 days per week. Please be sure you are following the routine so we are creating a culture of students who are problem solvers and communicators. This is a non-negotiable. When we think of the WHY behind classroom meetings- we are creating empathic, responsible, young people. When we review research, all signs point back to the opportunity for students to reflect, have dialogue and problem solve everyday problems in a safe environment. If you are reading this, send me an email telling me about one of your last classroom meeting discussions. If you have not been holding classroom meetings, send me an email recommitting to this practice.
* Remember to update RTI following the progress monitoring guidelines from Hampton City Schools.
* Running Records- remember to follow the cheat sheets to know when you have an accurate score. If you need support, please reach out to Mrs. Cole and she will guide you.
* Remember, reach out to parents about the positive just as well as the areas that need support. This can be done via email, Dojo, and even better a phone call home. I challenge you to make 5 positive PHONE CALLS home this week and 5 more positives through any other form of communication. Send me email and let me know you have done it!
* Be sure to read it all. There is PD embedded into this Smore and few times I ask to hear from you! I hope to see my email box explode!
Teacher Podcasts and Blogs!
This week... Do your flaws form a foundation? I LOVE this! The best thing we can do as teachers is reflect on own teaching and experiences. All cracks to form a foundation and find the wisdom to re-fill them so you can remain strong!
Do Your Flaws Form a Foundation? Often times what seems to be a blemish on the surface can actually be a transformational experience that sets the foundation for an even greater impact. When we take a moment to reflect on how our ‘cracks’ in our teaching road make us even better teachers, we can change the game entirely. Lets talk about it…
Feature of the Week!
Remember to have students use the word everyday and every opportunity when entering the classroom. This week, there is a video to support that you can show your students as well. I have found two "cartoon" type clips which I embedded on the first slide of the google presentation from Mrs. Cole. You can spread these three videos out through the week to help you open the discussion.
This weeks feature: IGH

Responsible Decision Making Article
Responsible Decision Making
How are you helping your students be responsible decision makers in the classroom? How do classroom meetings help with this component?
Here is a link from the Climate and Culture Website that will help and is geared towards 3rd-5th Grade: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1pZa-0BNj6-n-a1mTM94N5Z5VnR0I3b8w
Recently the Resource team helped students with a kindness quilt and kindness tree. Let's keep this positive thought process going and help students reflect on their decisions everyday!
