St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 1 | 23 July 2021

Message from Geordie
Good afternoon St Bernie’s,
Welcome back to Term 3! We have really hit the ground running this term and I feel really enthusiastic and energised after a good rest and an excellent first week. The buzz in our school has been a lot of fun and students have got stuck straight into their learning from Day 1 this week. As I said, our staff spent Monday discussing and brainstorming ideas for our Strategic Direction and yesterday we had an early childhood audit that looked at all aspects of our Kindy to Year 2 programs.
This morning we celebrated the start of our new Term with Mass. Our students participated beautifully and reverently, and I would like to thank Father Francis and all the parishioners for welcoming us into the Church. It was a lovely, reflective way to start the term.
This term we welcome the Campbell, Clarke, O’Neil, Bellemey and Awisan families into our school. I would like to thank all the staff and students for making them feel so welcome. As I walked around the classrooms this week it was awesome to see them with HUGE smiles on their face.
A quick reminder / plug for our Strategic Planning Forms that went home earlier this week. If you haven’t already seen it, please click the link below to have your say.
I hope you all have a great weekend - I am spending the weekend with Nonna and the Italian side of the family making sausages and pasta! Should be a laugh!

Ministry Update for Term
The Cultural Ministry are very busy this term with NAIDOC week and Hari Merdeka (Indonesia Day) for our students, so the Culture Club is taking a short break. This club will return in Term 4.
The Star Card trial in Term 2 was a success however, the Sports Ministry will be taking a pause in stamping over winter this term. The winner from last term will be announced at the assembly in Week 2.
Wonder who will be our $50 Rebel prize winner!! Star Card stamping will be back in term 4 when we have more sunshine!
Wheelie Wednesdays are our new 'active' focus for this term, this will replace Fume Free Friday's. Please check the school calendar for when our Wheelie Wednesdays are locked in to be in the draw for some very cool Your Move prizes.
Performing Arts Festival
Zac and Allyra enjoyed a nice morning tea afterwards with other students who attended. The service was very colourful and engaging. Best wishes to our dancers who will be performing in the festival on the evening of the 20th August.

Readathon August 2021
The month of August is MS Readathon Month. This very worthwhile cause encourages children to read whatever they would like and in doing so raise money for multiple sclerosis.
Parents can log into and register their child/ren to participate in the readathon simply by going to this site:
https://www.msreadathon.org.au
While this is a chance for fundraising, it is up to parents if they wish to participate in the fundraising
At School we will support the students in their reading, during library and in their classroom. As we all know reading is a fundamental skill in learning and the school is hoping lots of our students will join in.
