Assistant Principal Message

Our school is about to take part in a special, communitywide shared reading event. Every family will receive a copy of the same book – Because of the Rabbit by Cynthia Lord– and will be asked to read it together at home over the next few weeks. Personally asking you to make the time so that your family can participate in this special activity.

Your child received a copy of Because of the Rabbit at a special schoolwide assembly today introducing the program and the book. Along with the book, you will receive a reading schedule so that you can keep up at home. Generally, you will be asked to read about 15 minutes each night.

Leading up to this event, we celebrated Read Across America week. Yesterday, we took the time to enjoy reading. Everyone came together, lined the hallways and read for 20 minutes. Students then participated in the book character costume parade. Below are a few pictures from this event.

Reading for Education

This year we are partnering with Reading for Education to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed. This program is 100% online so there is no selling or handling money or products. Your participation is easy with no more than 12 minutes of your time required, and there is a nice prize program available to make this a fun experience. Details about what you need to do will be located in the packet coming home with your child.

IREAD-3

Second and third grade students will be taking IREAD-3 next week. Testing is scheduled for March 6th, 7th, and 8th. Teachers and students have been working VERY hard to prepare for this important test. Cheer us on!!! We are ready to do our best!!

Parents, research shows that students test better when they get a good night's rest and have a healthy breakfast.

It is imperative that our students are in attendance and arrive on time during testing days. Thank you for your cooperation in helping our students test to the best of their ability.

Testing will take place April 26 and 27. Students must be five years old by August 1, 2023.

Notes and Changes in Transportation

If you are running late and your child is tardy, it is important to sign your child in when they arrive. Please come into the building with your child to sign them in for the day.

If you send a note to your child's teacher or the office please include your child's first and last name, teacher's name and the date.

If your child is going home a different way, we need to have a note or a phone call before 2:00 pm. There are many students in the building and the end of the day gets hectic. If you call for a change of transportation after 2:00, we cannot guarantee the message will get to your child. Please be considerate of our office staff and make arrangements before 2:00.
