The Go Green- Culture Team

I would like to say thank you to Ms. Bohannon, Coach Jordan, Ms. Thornhill, Ms. Leyva, Ms. Xioltl, and Ms. Robledo for agreeing to be apart of the Go Green-Culture Team.

At AELC, our goal is to be green in all areas on the climate and culture survey. After presenting the results of the Fall Climate survey, The Go Green-Culture Team will lead our campus towards going green in all areas of the survey. This team will be responsible for leading you in many activities that will help us identify what specific actions will help improve our climate.

The results of the Climate Survey will be shared with you during tomorrow's faculty meeting.

After 37 years of service to the district, Mr. Dwight Counter-Custodial Supervisor, will hang up his tool belt and enjoy his retirement. If any of you have had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Counter, then you know he is a walking encyclopedia of Amelia Earhart's history.

Mr. Counter, from the bottom of our hearts...thank you for your dedication to the staff and students of Amelia Earhart. You will be missed...

Update...Water and Plumbing

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for ensuring instruction continued in spite of our plumbing problems. I didn't see or hear any of you complain about the inconvenience this issue might have caused. Our Emergency Operations Team (EOP) quickly acted by calling for emergency meals and bottled water; and putting together a plan for restrooms.

In case some of you weren't aware:)..a pipe burst causing large amounts of water to flood into the streets. Thankfully, the water didn't reach our boilers (which would have caused electrical issues). DISD's maintenance crew worked on the issue into the night...

I will update you with any additional information tomorrow.

Instructional Rounds, Pt2

Last Wednesday, our Instructional Leadership team began laying the framework and protocol for Instructional Rounds at AELC.

The goal of Instructional Rounds is for teams (networks) to go on scheduled walkthroughs while staying focused on the problem of practice. The purpose of this process is for us to develop a shared understanding of what high-quality instruction looks like and what we need to do in order to support it.

This Wednesday, we will begin our first "cohort" of Instructional Rounds with teachers as a key part of this network.

I will share more regarding teams and the protocol during tomorrow's faculty meeting.

Arts AELC!

Special Thanks to Ms. Benage!!!

She has been busy scheduling on-campus field trips with Arts Partners for the students of AELC. As a start, when you receive your February calendar, you will see a show scheduled for students in grades PreK-2 has been added to the calendar.

We will compile a list of all of the dates and activities and send them to you.
