School Closure March 16-April 24
Our school office is closed, but you can still reach us at 253-298-4500.
From the Principal
Hello, Midland Mustang Families!
I first want you to know how much our staff is thinking of you and your students. We hope you are doing well and taking good care of yourselves during this time. We want you to know we are here for you and we want to offer as much support to you as possible. Please do not hesitate to email your child's teacher if you need support. We are working online every day.
This starts the second week of our teachers providing work for our students. We recognize that it's taken a little time to get settled, but we do want all of our students to engage in the work that is being provided. If you have not yet checked your email, please open it up so your student can see what they could be doing each day. Our teachers are using both email and Canvas to deliver resources for your student. Most students in first through fifth grades are familiar with Canvas because they use it in the library regularly. Again, if you need help, we are here. Teachers have been busy contacting families, and hopefully you know the hours your child's teacher is online and available to help.
After this week, it's spring break, April 6-10 and teachers will not be sending additional work. They are sending plenty of resources, so your child may have enough for daily practice. If you want them to have more resources, you can also find more at our district website under educational resources. Teachers will resume sending work for the weeks of April 13th and 20th, and then we will see if we return on April 27th. We will certainly communicate any updates as far in advance as possible.
Hopefully you are able to get outside, take a walk, play a game, or just enjoy some down time also during this time at home. Take good care of yourselves in the days and weeks to come.
~Mrs. Dawson
Hand washing is an important prevention
Washing your hands is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, here are some tips to help keep your family safe.
Follow these five hand washing steps every time.
- Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
- Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
- Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
- Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
- Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
If you believe you or another family member is sick, please reach out to the Pierce County Health Department for information.
