All about the 2000's!

2000-2010

Lots of new fun and exciting things happened to America during the first decade of the 2000's as well as some tragic and horrific events.

2001

  • George W. Bush wins presidential election and is announced as our 43rd president.
  • The worst terrorist attack ever in the United States happens in New York at the World Trade Center, also known as the Twin Towers. Over 3,000 people lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

2002

  • President Bush creates a new cabinet department of Homeland Security on November 25, 2002.

2003

  • The iTunes store was introduced and became very popular and still is very well used until this day.

2004

  • HD / DVR was invented and were at a very high demand

2005

  • Youtube which is the best place for watching humorous videos and listening to music was created and everyone everywhere has used this website at least once.

2006

  • The wii gaming system was invented.
  • The United States population has reached 300 million, October 17, 2006.

2007

  • The very first Apple phone, the original iPhone was created and was at a very high demand of a lot of people.
  • Minimum wage has increased from $5.15 an hour to $5.85 and was also announced that minimum wage will be raised 70 cents every year throughout 2009 until it was to reach $7.25.

2008

  • The Amazon Kindle is the first electronic book that was inventedd where you can buy and read books anywhere you go.
  • Barack Obama becomes our 44th Preseident of the United States as well as the first african american president the US has ver had.

2009

  • Obama closes all secret prisons and detention camps.
  • April 26, 2009 over 20 cases of Swine Flu were found all over the United States.
  • On June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson a very famous pop singer dies at age 50.

2010

  • Augst 5th, Elena Kagen bcomes the fourth woman to ever hold a position as the newest Justice.
  • December 18, The Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy becomes known in all military bases that forbids openly gay women and men to serve our country.
