Diocesan Tuition Assistance Round Two Deadline
Last week I received the wonderful news that the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA) Review Committee reviewed our accreditation plan and granted Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School FULL ACCREDITATION. I want to thank our faculty who worked diligently throughout this process as well as our parents and students who completed surveys to help us identify our strengths and areas for improvement. We now move on to the implementation of our plan over the course of the next five years. In addition, Ohio's Department of Homeland Security reviewed and approved our emergency management plan which details our procedures for preventing and responding to a variety of potential safety concerns. According to the procedures established by the state of Ohio, our plan will be formally reevaluated in 2022.
I am pleased to announce that Stephanie Leffler, current second grade teacher, will transition to the role of Technology Coordinator/Teacher in the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Leffler currently serves on the school technology committee, and she is one of the original members/leaders on our STEM/STREAM team since its inception several years ago. On a diocesan level, Mrs. Leffler has led classes for new diocesan teachers and inservices on using the SMART Board. This summer will be the second year she serves as a trainer at the diocesan STREAM Academy for teachers. Mrs. Leffler will also be a part of the STREAM Advisory Committee that is being formed in the diocese. We are excited to have Mrs. Leffler share her passion for technology and STEM/STREAM education with our students.
I want to recognize and thank Mrs. Kathy Baka for coming out of her brief retirement and filling the role of Project Challenge teacher following the resignation of our previous teacher. She is "retiring again" as she joins her husband who is also retiring. We thank Mrs. Baka for her commitment to Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School over the last several years. She has certainly challenged our students to think critically, and she has engaged them in true learning and problem solving. We wish her all the best as she enjoys a well-deserved retirement.
Finally, we wish our eighth graders the best as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, May 26. May the Holy Spirit guide them throughout their lives. Enjoy the extended Memorial Day weekend. Take time to relax and spend time with your family before we begin the final two weeks of our school year.
Peace and blessings,
Diane M. Raguz
Principal

Music in the Parks 2019
We wish our junior high band members all the best as they participate in the Music in the Parks Festival on Saturday. Under the direction of Mrs. DeLine, our band will perform and receive feedback from professional music educators, celebrate at an awards ceremony that includes schools from different cities and states, and enjoy the remainder of the day at Cedar Point. This is the second year our band will take part in this event, and we thank Mrs. DeLine for organizing it. We appreciate Mrs. Krogman and Mrs. Mickol and our parent chaperones, who are accompanying Mrs. DeLine and our musicians. Good luck!

Hot Lunch Accounts
As of Monday, May 27, there are only 5 more days of Hot Lunch service during this school year. Parents are asked to be aware of their child’s lunch balance. All negative balances are expected to be cleared. If your child is in Kindergarten through Grade 7, any balance left in your child’s hot lunch account will be available next year. 8th grade students with younger siblings will have their balance transferred to the younger sibling’s account. If your 8th grader does not have younger siblings in the school, please notify the school office by email at office@saintpaschal.com if you wish to have their balance transferred to another student in our school, or if you would prefer to have their balance returned to you by check at the end of the school year.
