Message From Director
Happy Three Day Weekend! I am excited about an extra day of rest! Again I can not stress to you the importance of taking care of yourself. We all have been experiencing a lot of sickness lately and it is rapidly spreading.
We are finally finish with MAP and I have been very proud of the work that has been put into to analyzing our scholar growth. We are moving forward to CA#3. This season of work we do is NOT for the faint, but instead for those who truly are ready to answer the call. What call, you may ask? The call to respond to the data that our kids give us in our daily, weekly, tri-weekly, and network wide assessments.
It requires those of us who have answered this call of educating scholars to respond! We respond by doing whatever it takes to help our scholars be successful. We work continuously until they succeed! WE DO the WORK! Whatever it takes, because its about OUR SCHOLARS being successful. Many professions have the ability to learn a job by one skill that repeats itself daily, but our profession is different, it requires us to continuously adapt and respond to determine effectiveness and success. It is a VERY hard task but I BELIEVE IT IS ONE WE CAN DO! IT REQUIRES A STRONG MINDSET AND WILINESS TO GET OUT OF OUR "COMFORT ZONE".
THE GOOD THING IS, WE DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE, WE GET TO DO IT TOGETHER! I look forward to what we as a team do for our scholars based on data we have.
#onlyexcellencewilldo!
Congratulations Lisa!

Word Consciousness/ IB
IB
IB
This week the Mrs. Daughtry’s class will help us understand the significance and application of another IB attitude, Open Minded. The IB program defines open-minded people as those who “understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values, and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a rand of points and view, and are willing to grow from the experience.” Below are some ideas for morning meeting topics to discuss with your scholars this week:
- Use this week as an opportunity to discuss how opinions and ideas can vary from person to person and push your scholars to think about how even though they might disagree with what someone else does or says, that doesn’t mean the other person is wrong.
- Ask scholars to share times that they have had their mind changed after listening to someone else’s argument. What made the other person’s argument effective?
- If you disagree with someone does that mean that you are mad at them?
- How can being open-minded and listening to others, while sharing our own ideas, help us grow and learn?
Important dates/announcements etc.
Grading: teachers please ensure that you are keeping up with grades weekly. As stated in our policy , at least two grades per week should be put in the grade book. Keep in mind that CA's and TWA grades should always be included in report card grades when necessary. These are important assessments and scholars and parents need to be aware of them. However, these grades should not fail a scholar if you have more than enough grades in your grade book. Below are some examples to help you as we move forward in Q2.
