Laura Ingalls Wilder was a famous author of all the Little House books. Laura was born February 7, 1867, near Pepin, Wisconsin. She had two sisters, Mary and Carrie. Mary being the oldest and Carrie being the youngest and her in the middle. In 1879, an illness hit the family but luckily everyone recovered. Laura got married on August 25, 1885, to Almanzo Wilder. Laura Ingalls Wilder died on February 10, 1957, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 90.

Laura Ingalls Wilder began writing in 1926. Her first book she ever wrote was Little House in the Big Woods. It was published the year of 1932. Laura’s book series is somewhat based on growing up in the midwest. Surprisingly not everything she wrote in her books was true about her life. Laura Ingalls Wilder was one of the most influential children's authors in American history. She won several awards for her work.One of the awards was named after Laura. There was a t.v. series based on the books. Other books Laura wrote were, Little House on the Prairie, Banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, The Long Winter, and Little Town On The Prairie.

Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in an area where she was not able to go to school because she didn’t live in town because her pa didn't want to live near anybody. So this meant Laura had to help her ma with chores for example, she had to help around the farm and bring chips from the woodpile. Laura also had to help Mary do certain things because Mary was blind. So all this led to her being a responsible person in life. Laura was a very smart person. She became a teacher at only 15 years old. She also wrote books with descriptive words. This led Laura to be a smart person.
