Visit by State Representative Dylan Fernandez
Last week on Friday we had a special visit to NIS by Massachusetts state representative Dylan Fernandez. He was so excited, and a bit nervous, to read our third graders in Ms. Topham's classroom. The students were so engaged, helping him to read and asking him questions. Representative Fernandez was also very interested in asking our students questions about their school year.
Following his visit in grade three, Representative Fernandez was escorted by a student representative on Dr. Hallett's NIS Student Roundtable to the cafeteria. There they joined third, fourth and fifth grade student representatives in their second meeting with Dr. Hallett to discuss all things NIS. We were very excited to host this special guest who has the ability to advocate for education and our island at the state level! He was just wonderful with our students.

Thank you!
Yesterday we were down one bus driver and there are no substitute drivers. Many thanks to the families who made arrangements to get their children to school a different way and to those of you who had your students ready for a late pick up. We understand just how challenging this is and are so appreciative of all of your support.

The vaccine appointment time for January 29 will now be transferred to the same time slot on February 19. Hello NIS Families,
Are you aware that if your child is fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the 2nd dose) they are exempt from having to quarantine if they are considered a close contact from school or from home. If vaccinated, your student will most likely have a milder case of covid and stay out of the hospital.
We are having another Vaccine clinic on January 29th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at NES cafeteria. Below is a link to make an appointment. Pfizer 1st, 2nd and booster shots available for anyone 5 years or older. All community members are welcome.
