Masconomet Middle School

Message from Principal Dillon

This year we will strive every day for academic excellence in an environment that champions good citizenship. Under the leadership of Dr. Harvey, we will begin to evaluate our curriculum through the lens of 21st century skills. Greater focus will be placed on preparing our students to become critical thinkers who effectively collaborate and communicate with others and are able to solve problems creatively. We will also be emphasizing good citizenship and be introducing Civics into the grade eight social studies curriculum.

Parent Conferences

At the middle school, multiple avenues exist to communicate with your child's teachers and guidance counselor. Parent conference night is only one mechanism and designed early in the first trimester predominantly so that parents and teachers of struggling students may meet and develop a plan together to assist a student to find success prior to the end of the first trimester. Over the years, we have found this may be a different emphasis than parents at the elementary school level experience. In an attempt to allow parents/guardians of struggling students an opportunity to meet their teacher, any parent of a student that has a C- or below may contact their child's guidance counselor on October 16 or October 17 from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to pre-register a conference for that teacher. Furthermore, guidance counselors will reach out to parents/guardians during this time if a teacher would like to meet and discuss a student with a parent/guardian. We hope that all will understand that the primary goal of our conference night is to assist those parents with struggling students to meet with their child's teachers in order to find success prior to the end of the trimester.

Parent conferences will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. The on-line sign up for time slots will be open for all parents beginning on Thursday, October 17 at

7:00 p.m. You will receive an email regarding parent conferences with the sign up link so please check your inbox at that time.
