A Monster of a Good Time!

Oh boy did we have fun in the library this week! Kindergarteners listened to two books. The first book we read was I'm Not Scared by Jonathan Allen. In this book Baby Owl decides to take his stuffed animal Owly out for a walk in the woods at night. He continues to be startled by animals as he walks through the woods but insists that he is not scared! We laughed and talked about how this is similar to little kids saying they are not tired when they are practically falling over asleep. The kids pretended to have no idea what I was referring to but I knew that wasn't possible.

After this story we read Monster Mash by David Catrow. Some of the kids were familiar with the song and they may have been subjected to my singing when we discussed that the book was an illustrated retelling of the song. Once the kids were done checking out we even had videos on the smart board of silly faces dancing to the song. The kids loved dancing and singing along to this old classic Halloween song.

I introduced some new early reader books to the Kindergarten students and you may have noticed them coming home as I know a few kids did choose those during checkout.

I can't wait to see all the kids in the parade and to hear all about their Halloween night next week.

Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions:
