Grade 9 Farewell Information
Dear Parents/Guardians and Grade Nine Students,
This information is to provide you with information about the Grade Nine Farewell Celebration & Reception that is being planned for our students.
Ceremony:
The Farewell Ceremony will be held at the Sherwood Park Alliance Church (1011 Clover Bar Road) on Friday, June 9 beginning at 5:00 p.m. The doors to the sanctuary will open at 4:30 p.m. and there will be opportunities for families to take photographs before and after the ceremony. By holding the ceremony at Sherwood Park Alliance Church, students are not limited in the number of guests they choose to invite.
The ceremony will include short speeches from students, staff, and invited guests. There will also be a presentation of completion certificate to each student, a video of all students as well as musical performances by students.
A short rehearsal for students will be held at Sherwood Heights on the morning of June 9.
Following the Ceremony:
A Farewell Reception will be held for grade 9 Sherwood Heights students only at Sherwood Heights Junior High School – 241 Fir Street. The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. During the reception, the students will enjoy a DJ dance, photo booth, pizza, pop & water.
Please have your child RSVP by May 18 for the reception using the link.
We do need parent volunteers for the reception. Your child can input your name in the RSVP link and we will contact you at a later date: https://forms.gle/77qYxNgN2qbss1BS7
Students who do not RSVP, will not be admitted. Entry to the event will be closed at 7:30 p.m. and there are no in-and-out privileges. Please note that this is still a school sanctioned event and as such, all school rules still apply.
Dress:
Although we do not have a specific dress code for the celebration, students are encouraged to dress for a semi-formal junior high event. We discourage students and families from purchasing expensive attire or accessories.
Auditions:
We like our ceremony to be as student centered as possible. Students wishing to audition for various roles (masters of ceremony, singing of anthem, musical performances) should listen to the daily announcements for audition dates and times.
Please feel free to contact the office at 780-467-5930 should you have any questions about the events.
Sincerely,
Amit Mali - Principal
Aaron Tuckwood - Assistant Principal
Taylor Burton - Acting Assistant Principal

Dear Sherwood Heights and École Campbelltown families;
As you know, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) recently received confirmation from Alberta Education on construction funding for the Sherwood Heights Junior High and École Campbelltown replacement school.

Make sure to attend to:
· meet the architectural firm,
· learn more about the design process,
· view preliminary site plans,
• watch a virtual tour of the school and
• share your input on possible exterior colours for the school.

EIPS Summer School Registration
Registration for EIPS Summer School opens March 15, 2023. The Summer School program offers a number of senior high courses that allow students to earn credits, upgrade marks, lighten workloads for the year ahead or finish pre-requisite courses.
Registration is open to:
- current EIPS students (grades 9-12)
- students who will enter an EIPS high school for the 2023-2024 school year, as of Sept. 1, 2023.
Pre-requisite course requirement: In consultation with Alberta Education and senior administration at EIPS, if there is a pre-requisite course needed for the student’s summer class (for example, Social 20-1 to prepare for Social 30-1), that pre-requisite must have been successfully completed by June 25, 2023.
NOTE: Students are only able to register in one course for summer school as all classes run at the same time. The only exception is a student taking self-paced CALM 20, students could then register in one other course, or the classes are taught in different sessions. For example, taking CALM 20 in session 1 and Phys. Ed 10 in session 2.
Canteen Volunteers and Menu
Volunteering for shifts in our SWH Canteen with Mrs. Braun is an excellent way to help prepare our students for the world of work. These opportunities help students build confidence, increase skill range, and feel successful as they work towards entering post-secondary or the workforce.
Also being served on Thursdays is $3 pizza slices! Pick from pepperoni, cheese and ham & pineapple.
