SCS Happenings: December 31, 2021

Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.

From One Wildcat to Another...

Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued new guidance for Isolation and Quarantine Periods. In guidance that came out from the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, December 30th, the new Isolation and Quarantine Periods for COVID-19 does not apply to schools.

The DOH Health Alert Update is attached for your review. On page two, paragraph six of this document states that the new CDC guidance does not apply to schools. Thus, Saint Catharine of Siena will continue with the current school-specific protocols when a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 or when an individual needs to quarantine because they were identified as a close contact due to exposure.

The PA Department of Education link regarding school guidance is attached below for your review.

As always, we ask that you contact your health provider immediately for guidance specific to your household and vaccination status if someone contacts COVID. Thank you.

Please note, that if your child must quarantine from school due to COVID-related reasons or is absent due to illness, they may not participate in any after-school activities on the days they are not present. Thank you for your kind understanding and participation in this matter.

We appreciate your patience and continued support as we travel through the ever-changing guidelines during COVID.

We look forward to an exciting (and healthy) 2022!

Thank you for all you do today, tomorrow, and always. Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.

Air high fives to all,

Mrs. Marcella Kraycik

Science Explorers is Coming to Saint Catharine of Siena School

Science Explorers is an innovative, hands-on science company dedicated to providing an opportunity for children ages 4-11 to become engaged in the wonders of science. Whether it’s an after-school program, science summer camp, school assembly, or preschool event, Science Explorers can make science cool and exciting through our interactive format. Ever dissect a shark? What about a squid? Have you ever mixed together two liquids to create a solid? Made glowing slime? Examined a real heart? Built and launched your own rocket? Lifted a person using nothing but air? These are some of the awesome experiments your students could be experiencing next semester.

Mrs. Lisa Strunk will be moderating the Science Explorer After School club. This club is open to students in grades 1-5. It will be held Mondays, after school, beginning in LATE January. More specifics to come when we return from Christmas break.

For more information, you may click https://scienceexplorers.com/our-programs/ . Saint Catharine of Siena will be added soon to the list of available camps.
