A message from the Superintendent
Weekly Communication
May 5, 2023
Dear PV Families,
I'd like to start this week's message with a shout-out to our teachers and principals! Earlier this week, both groups were celebrated on the calendar. I would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation for all that our teachers and principals do for our students and families district-wide.
Together, teachers and administrators represent the largest employee group in the district and serve as our "lead learners," "facilitators" of learning, and as counselors, nurses, social workers, service providers and so much more. They build strong relationships with our students and nurture a desire for lifelong learning. They also contribute significantly to the community-feel culture in our schools and who we are as a district, #PVProud.
Thank you, to our teachers and principals (all administrators actually) and to those in our community that serve as educators in other settings. You are appreciated today and everyday!
Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara A. Russell

NMTCC Senior Expo
North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC) held its annual Senior Expo this week. Students who are preparing to graduate from North Montco create a project representative of their learning as well as their aspirations and present it to parents and educators in attendance. There were many senior Perkiomen Valley students and their work was impressive! #PVProud
The Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence are awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to highlight the best in environmental innovation and expertise throughout the Commonwealth.
For the 2023 awardees, PVSD was the only school district recognized! Other awardees included several outstanding non-profits, businesses, and government.
School Safety
If you have a student at Middle School East or West, you are aware of recent messages sent by principals about students making threatening statements. Thankfully, each of the threats were determined to be transient and subsequently denied or retracted by students. Please know that any and all threatening statements are taken seriously by administration and the District's Threat Assessment Team. They are investigated fully. Students must realize the seriousness of making threatening statements as part of casual conversation; this cannot occur.
In the event your child has questions about something they hear, they should seek assistance from a trusted adult in the school community. We are thankful for the students who bring concerning statements to the attention of adults in the building. Their efforts help to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
Do not hesitate to reach out to your child's principal with questions regarding safety.
Superintendent's Roundtable
There will be a Superintendent's Roundtable on Tuesday, May 9 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the high school library. The topic for this meeting is Elementary Special Education. Any interested parents of elementary level special education students are invited to attend and share your thoughts on the experiences of your child this year.
Safety & Operations Ad Hoc Committee
Conversations continue about implementing school police officers into our schools beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Policy discussions are underway and will be ongoing as part of Policy Committee and School Board meetings. The next meeting of the Safety and Operations Ad Hoc Committee is scheduled for May 10 in the high school library from from 6:30-8:00 pm. This meeting will focus on the administrative regulations that guide staff in upholding policy and is open to the public.
