PTA NEWS FLASH
Indian Knoll Elementary
Letter from the Principal
We have had a wonderful semester full of memorable moments at IKES! Our teachers have been working hard to create a warm and nurturing environment for our students while providing daily rigorous instruction. We have celebrated Grandparents’ Day, Veteran’s Day, The IKES Talent Show and many student successes! December is the time of the season when we teach our children about compassion and giving. On December 20th, we will host IKES Believes and give back to the community through a MUST Ministry toy drive. During the winter break, please take time with your friends and family to recharge your batteries and set New Year 2020 goals. We have a fun-filled second semester planned and are excited to watch our Firebirds soar through extracurricular activities! Thank you for completing the Georgia State Climate Survey regarding our school over the Thanksgiving Break. This year our school CCRPI score increased and we earned a 4 Star Climate Rating. Our current student achievement goals of reading and math continue to guide academic decisions. We value your partnership and encourage reinforcement of these skills at home. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly if you ever have any needs or questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kim Cerasoli
Principal

Our annual IKES Believes in Helping Others holiday program will take place on December 20. New and unwrapped toys can be donated until Wednesday, December 18 which will benefit those in our community through MUST Ministries. The house that brings in the most toys will earn points.
We will be finishing our Speak Up, Be Safe lessons for all students. Please be sure to ask your student about the safety rules.
We would like to wish you a happy and joyous holiday season. Spotlight on Kindness
True friendships are hard to come by and when we're lucky enough to find them, it's truly a thing to cherish. IKES Kindergartner, Mason Cummings, demonstrated the true gift of friendship and kindness on just a regular day at school when he noticed a friend saddened by sitting alone at lunch. Mason promptly left his spot at his table to accompany the other child. He did this without prompt or seeking of recognition, but these amazing acts of kindness stand out!
Help us spread some love by sharing wonderful acts of kindness that you do or experience! Let's celebrate compassion together and inspire each other to pay it forward! Please send pictures or stories of your acts of kindness to nchambley.ikespta@gmail.com.

IKES Annual Holiday Shop
It's the most wonderful time of the year! The time where our children get to experience the true joy of giving is upon us! IKES PTA Sponsored Holiday Shop is coming! For our new firebirds, the holiday shop is a store that provides the opportunity for students in all grades to purchase inexpensive, but thoughtful gifts for family and friends! It will be open from December 9th through December 13th. Your child's teacher has signed up for a specific day and time to bring their students.
In order to make sure this experience is enjoyed by all students, we are seeking volunteers who can help with various tasks. If you would like to volunteer please click here or use the link below. We are still in need of volunteers, so if you are able to help out, even for a short period of time, we would be grateful.
If you have any questions regarding Holiday Shop please contact Michelle Kramer at mkramer.ikespta@gmail.com
