Little Lion's Roar
September Parent Newsletter
Welcome Back
The first few days of school have come and gone and what a wonderful start to the school year it has been. The children seem excited and are settling into their new environment and routines quite nicely. We are pleased to have you as partners and want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth. One of our goals is for parents, like the students themselves, to feel at home at Cherry Hill. To help accomplish this we will communicate monthly through our electronic newsletter called the Little Lion’s Roar, which will provide you with information about school events and activities.
We would also like to thank all of our parents who were able to attend their child’s orientation. We feel it is important to communicate consistently with parents about what is happening here at Cherry Hill. It allows you as parents and we as your children’s educators to make sure all of us are on the same page when it comes to helping the children learn and have a safe and positive school year. As parents, you should be just as involved in your child’s education as we are. We welcome and encourage your participation and it is our pleasure to be the Principals of a school with wonderful students, involved families, and dedicated staff.
Mrs. Anderson- New Assistant Principal
Cherry Hill Families,
I want you to know how truly humbled and ecstatic I am to learn and grow with your child this year as the new Assistant Principal at Cherry Hill Primary. Over the past 13 years, in my educational career, I have had the amazing opportunity of educating PreK, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade students in both brick and mortar and online school settings. While I have been blessed to educate students in the classroom, I have also had the incredible experience of mentoring educators all over the state of Ohio as an Educational Effectiveness Coach. I'm an avid Buckeye Fan and played volleyball for The Ohio State University. I have been married for nine years to my incredible husband, Tyler. Tyler and I have two wonderful little girls (Brielle and Reese) that attend Kindergarten at Cherry Hill this year. I look forward to a great year with your child, our staff, and Mr. Maddux. Please know I am always here to help in any way that I can!

Megan Anderson

Dress Code
There have been several concerns during the first days of school regarding student dress. Certain articles of clothing or shoes are being worn that are not permitted according to district policy. Please review the “Dress Code for School” section on page 7 of the Home-School Handbook to make sure your child is dressing appropriately for school. Students who come to school dressed inappropriately will be sent to the office so parents can be notified. Thanks for your cooperation.
By order of Governor DeWine on Tuesday, August 4th, masks will be required for all students across the state of Ohio, including those attending Washington Court House City Schools this Fall. We appreciate your understanding as we work with the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Department of Health, and Fayette County Public Health-OHIO to engage, inspire, and grow in a safe manner for all in the Blue Lion Family. Exceptions to this policy will be in accordance with the exceptions listed by the Ohio Department of Health, determined on a case-by-case basis by the building health clinic. Single-use face masks and/or regular cloth face masks should be changed regularly to ensure the cleanliness of the mask and to protect the student and staff. Families can assist the schools with relaying the importance of wearing masks and CDC guidelines by talking with their students before their return to school about these safety precautions. We are asking parents who can provide masks for their children to bring one to school each day. A mask will be provided for those students who do not have one.

School Pictures
All students (Brick and Mortar and Remote Learners) will have their school pictures taken Friday, September 11th. All picture information and payment will be online and parents will begin receiving information this week. There will be NO preordering of pictures this year, a QR code will be sent home with your child after picture day that will allow parents to see their child's pictures online and order the package they would like. We will follow strict protocols that are already in place on that day to make sure that students are able to have their pictures taken safely. Please remind your child if they need to dress up that day.
Our remote learning students will also have the option if they would like to have their pictures taken from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Only the student will be permitted to enter the building through the cafeteria doors. Students will have their temperatures taken upon entry while following the state mandate of wearing a face covering. The student will "sanitize in" and "sanitize out." The student will not wear their facial covering while having their pictures taken and the students will be socially distant from each other while waiting to have their pictures taken.
Automated Calling (Including Absences)
Our district has the technology to place automated phone calls to parents regarding school information and when students are absent. It is important that parents listen carefully to the information in these messages as they will be used all school year to keep parents updated. We will also post a copy of the automated messages on our school website in case parents have difficulty receiving them. Please contact the office at 335-3370 if you have a change in your contact number.
If a child is absent and we have not received a phone call or previous note indicating the reason for the absence by 9:45 am that morning, the school will send an automated message to parents by phone confirming the reason for the absence. Please make sure that our office has been notified any time your child is absent.
