Back to School Bash

Many thanks to the parents, grandparents, Home and School Association, and school staff that made last Thursday's event such a big hit! Students enjoyed a bounce house (courtesy of Raigen in 4th grade's mom), fun food, DJ music from Donovan Barnes, Double Dutch, football, and dancing. Thank you to HSA President Kisha Holmes and her team, as it was great to keep this wonderful SJDLS tradition alive and well, and we appreciate everyone who helped it come together.

Volunteer Opportunities Are you a Virtus trained parent or grandparent with a little extra time or love to give? We could use some extra sets of hands at certain times during the week: at lunch/recess, STEM classes, PreK-Williams, and with Drumline. We will be planning for the Halloween festivities planned for October 28th as well as future events: Comedy Night, Breakfast with Santa, etc. All families receive 1 service hour for attending.	Picture Day! Picture Day is coming up on Monday, October 3rd. Students may be out of uniform on this day. Remember, our school has many stairs- girls should not be in heels. Fake nails, nail polish, and hair color are never permitted. Crocs are never allowed. Dresses and shirts may not be tight or revealing. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for school.

Bio: Mr. Adje Accoh

Mr. Accoh is a native French speaker from Togo. He is passionate about Mathematics and the need to build a strong Mathematical foundation in students’ lives. He has been a resource to his

classmates and friends in Math throughout his years of study and has been tutoring Mathematics for the last decade. Mr. Accoh has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from The University of Lome in Togo, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University. Mr. Accoh is a firm believer in the comprehension of Math concepts and the process involved in arriving at the solution rather than just focusing on the final answer. In his spare time, Mr. Accoh enjoys playing Soccer, Checkers and Pétanque.

Basketball Coach Needed

We are looking for a Basketball Coach to work with our students in grades 5-8 to play in our Catholic League, usually at St. Margaret of Scotland and Tolton (formerly St. Columbanus). The challenge for us without having a gym is scheduling time at local gyms- we have used St. Francis, Pullman, 99th/Jeffrey, Dolton, etc. in the past. Coaches receive service and fundraising hours due to their time commitment. Please contact Mr. McClellan if you are interested in coaching.
