Principal's Message

Thank you to all who attended our Back to School Night on Tuesday. We had a fantastic turnout! We also have over 100 PTA members this year! If you were unable to attend, please contact your child's teacher for information that you missed. At my presentation, I shared about the role of our School Site Council. We have four parent/community member positions available this year. Please use the link below to vote for parent representatives. Voting will close at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1. Paper ballots are available in the office. The first meeting will be Tuesday, September 5, at 3:15 p.m.

Are you interested in volunteering? Our first training for volunteers will be Tuesday, August 29 at 5:30 p.m. If you completed the training last year, you do not need to attend this training. You can come by the school office and pick up a 2023-2024 McKinley Volunteer packet and complete the online questionnaire. Please make sure we have an updated Confidential Volunteer Information sheet. You must complete the forms each year. Copies of these forms are available in the office.

Your 2023/2024 back to school paperwork is now online. If you have not already completed your packet, please log into ssd.schoolwise.com and complete ASAP. If you need assistance, please call the office at (530) 257-5161. An all call alert was sent out yesterday as a reminder.

As a reminder, we open for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Please do not drop your child off prior to 7:30 a.m. If your child is not eating breakfast, you can still drop off at 7:30 and your child will wait in the cafeteria until we go to the playgrounds at 7:55. (TK will go to the playground after the other students leave the cafeteria). Breakfast ends at 8:10 when the first bell rings. Please allow enough time for your child to eat breakfast and still be able to make it to class on time at 8:15 when the tardy bell rings.

If you are interested in the After School Program (also called Expanded Learning Program) please see the information below to register. We still have space available!

Our office is open from 7:45-3:45 each day. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school office or you can reach me by email at tcockerill@susanvillesd.org

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Cockerill

Mr. Jason Waddell, Susanville School District Superintendent

This year marks the 30th year in education for Superintendent Waddell. This is his 14th year as the Superintendent of Susanville School District..

When Mr. Waddell was a student, his favorite teacher was Mr. Wheat who taught sixth grade. Mr. Waddell recalled that Mr. Wheat instilled a love of reading for all of his students. He also spent his lunch time teaching students how to tie flys so they would be ready to go fishing!

Mr. Waddell says the best thing about leading Susanville School District is working with all of the awesome people who have a love for working with our students.

Mr. Waddell can be reached at jwaddell@susanvillesd.org.
