MEA Esports Team
Help us get the an eSports team up and running!
Students are looking to start an eSports Team here at MEA. eSports has exploded in popularity in the last decade, with some colleges now actively seeking students for their new eSports teams. Over $16 million in scholarships were awarded to eSports players in 2020. Video games, eSports specifically, have been shown to enhance critical thinking skills and teach teamwork, leadership, and strategy skills
An eSports Team at MEA is in its fledgling stages, we are still working on acquiring the necessary equipment. We had a family generously donate 2 Nintendo OLED Switches to the school, but we still need additional items, such as TVs, Games, and extra controllers. We have set up a DonorsChoose in order to garner the necessary funds to get this program up and running.
Please consider donating and sharing the link below, we need your help to get this program off the ground.
If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Keck

Calling all Artists
Hello, young artists at MEA. If you are looking to publish your work in a magazine, this is the place for you. Heights is MEA's literary magazine that offers a platform for young artists to amplify their voices and share their work. We are accepting submissions of original work for our winter issue now. We accept art, poetry, short stories, essays, short films, excerpts from novels, and more. For this issue, there is an Open Book section which has no theme, and a themed section called New Beginnings. Works in this category could be about new changes, starting over, new ideas and discoveries, and/or new chapters in one's life. Your work will featured in our issues on the Heights website.
Campus Highlights
Marketplace
The 3rd and 4th Grade Marketplace was a huge success! Our young entrepreneurs sold out of most of their products and enjoyed walking around and purchasing from their classmates' stores. Marketplace was the culmination of a 6-week Economics unit taught in the 3rd and 4th grade classroom where students learned about basic economic concepts such as: producers/consumers, goods/services, debits/credits, supply/demand, budgeting, advertising, and marketing. Thank you to all the parents for their help in making this happen!
Community Service
Students and Parents Volunteered with Mr. Spiegelberg at the Jacobs Cushman San Diego Food Back. On two Mondays our MEA team bagged about 4000 Pounds of Fruit to be distributed around the county at Soup Kitchens, Food Banks, and Churches to those in need.
Leprechaun Shenanigans
Leprechauns have Rampaged through our Classroom! Article written by the 2nd grade class
When we walked in the Thursday morning after St. Patrick’s Day, we saw our leprechaun traps all messed up and mixed up! There was green tissue paper everywhere! They left stickers, confetti, and green footprints all over! They made a mess of Skittles and Lucky Charms. The leprechauns hid our pencil boxes all over the classroom and left green mints in them. Our toy cash register that had been broken was fixed!! This is proof that leprechauns are real because Mrs. Finney and Ms. Ellie couldn’t fix it! The register was used to collect gold coins to get in to watch the concert, Irish Idol Music Festival. There was a stage and instruments, so it looked like they had a band. And the band won a trophy they left behind. Our class stuffed animals were watching the concert and munching on snacks. The mischievous leprechauns left new pointers, along with a note, as a sorry gift for all the mess they made. It seems like they had a great St. Patrick’s Day!
