Fall Break Camp
Our campers had a fantastic time in our Dia de los Muertos Camp last week during the Fall Break. You can't miss their amazing ofrendas and calaveras on display in the lobby. Thanks to Ms. Veronica, Ms. Natalie, Mr. Jhino, and the rest of the camp staff for a fun-filled week.
Rugby Clinic at AIS
Yesterday, our CP1, CE1, CM2, and Middle School students were very fortunate to have a rugby workshop with famous player, Brian Liebenberg, and members of the Austin Elite Rugby team. Thanks to our visitors for their time at AIS. Our students had a blast learning new skills.
Student Assembly
Our students met this week to discuss the upcoming elections and were presented with a choir performance from CE1, CM1, & CM2 students. Next month's assembly will highlight our core value of Creativity!
Dress Code Reminder
Please keep in mind the dress code as you prepare your student(s) for the day. Good job to the sharp dressed students below who come to school lookin' good and on point in proper attire!
Homologation Update & Advisor & Sponsor Visits
We have submitted the file for the renewal of our French accreditation (PS through CM2) and our extension application for 6e for French homologation. (We must wait for 5e until next year). This is a very lengthy and important process for our school. The inspector will come for a site visit after the Thanksgiving Break. We will keep you posted next summer when we receive our accreditation report. A big shout out goes to all the team members who worked on getting this accomplished for our school. We are especially grateful to our volunteer translators: Celine Swicegood, Aurelie Hennion, Matthieu Peraldi, Alexis Aimard, Elise Seingier, & Sylviane Pasquet who did tremendous work translating our website and other submission materials.
Our Visa sponsor, Ms. Mason, will observe our J1 teachers in action on 10/19 and will host a meeting with all Texas educators on 10/28 at AIS.
Our MLF,Mission laïque française, pedagogical advisor will visit our school and observe some classes in November.
AIS Date Night-Bachata/Salsa Dance Lessons-Sat., 10/20 7:30 - 9:00 pm
Come join the PTO tomorrow for a fun, adults only date night at AIS ! AIS parent Robert Booth will give complimentary Bachata/Salsa lessons in the auditorium. Classes begin promptly at 7:30, doors will open at 7:15 pm. This is sure to be a fun event and we hope you can join in!
Student Council Elections-Tue., 10/23
Our student council elections will be held on Tue., 10/23 in each class. Our student council is composed of 2 representatives from each class in CE2, CM1, & CM2, and 1 representative from 6è and 5è. Student council members will gain valuable skills as they lead the school student assemblies. It has been great to see the campaign posters on campus this week.
Elected student council members will meet on Tuesdays from 11:25-11:55 am on assembly weeks and on non-assembly weeks on Thursdays from 11:25-11:55 am. Best of luck! to all our fine candidates!
PTO General Meeting-Tue., 10/23 5:30 - 6:00 pm
Join the Parent-Teacher Organization in the Science Lab on Tuesday for updates and information. Click here to register for complimentary childcare during the meeting.
State of the School Address-Thur., 10/25 6:30 - 8:00 pm
We hope all our parents can join us for our annual State of the School Address in the auditorium with member of the AIS Board of Directors and school leadership. We will highlight our financial and school progress over the last year and look ahead to the school's future. Limited childcare will be available for registered families here.
AIS/Kendra Scott Mixer-Fri., 10/26 6:00 - 8:00 pm
We will be partnering with Kendra Scott for an upcoming AIS mixer and Annual Fund launch party. Ladies (and gents) come join us at their new store in the domain at 11506 Century Oaks Terrace, Ste. 104 for a shopping extravaganza. Check out her amazing line of jewelry and home goods. Kendra Scott will generously donate a portion of the event sales back to AIS! This is an easy way to get some bling, bling for yourself and loved ones (hint...hint....th holidays are around the corner) while supporting your favorite school!
You don't have to be an AIS community member to attend. Make sure to share the event flyer with your friends and neighbors!
If you can't attend, you can still support the event by filling out this pre-order form after picking out your favorite items online. Viva la Vida Parade & Festival-Sat., 10/27 12:00 - 6:00 pm
We look forward to participating for the second time in Mexicarte's 35th annual Viva La Vida Parade on Saturday, 10/27. The parade will march from 12 to 1:00 pm, and the streets of downtown are closed in front of the museum for a festival until 6:00pm. You can sign up to march with us for that first hour. Come join us to walk the route and show your AIS pride or join in the festival. This year's theme is Alebrijes!
Box Tops for Education Due-Mon., 10/29
Collecting box tops is an easy way to help support the PTO at AIS. If you have been collecting them, please turn them into the PTO box at reception by Monday. Thank you for checking your pantries and cabinets this weekend. Here is a list of participating products.
Halloween Celebrations-Wed., 10/31 Parade-1:00-1:30pm/Parties-1:30 - 2:00pm
Please be mindful of the following costume guidelines and restrictions.
- Costumes should not be scary, bloody, or gory
- No prop weapons or anything resembling weapons
- No alcohol, tobacco, or drug-related props
- No suggestive costumes inappropriate for children
PS & MS: Students can wear Halloween colors to school but should not come to school in costume. They will change into their costumes after 11:55 recess.
GS and up: Students may wear their costumes to school.
Halloween Parade (1:00 - 1:30pm):
- Hallways will open to parents at 1:00 pm. Parents arriving before 1:00 pm will be asked to wait in the foyer to avoid crowding while students line up. The auditorium will not be open to parents, as students will assemble there to begin the parade.
- Watching the parade: At 1:00 pm, parents will be asked to exit the foyer and remain behind the red tape (blue tape will mark the path for students). Feel free to take pictures but thank you for keeping the paths clear. Stairways are not open during the parade.

Class Parties (1:30 - 2:00 pm):
The parties will begin after the parade from 1:30 to 2:00 pm in the classrooms, except for Middle School. Be on the lookout for an email from your Room Parents with class signup information and needs. We will rely on parent help with executing the parties efficiently, so thank you in advance for your support.
Class Dismissal (2:05pm)
- If you would like to take your child from one class to a sibling class, please sign-out in the classroom with the Room Parent so we know your child is with you and has left the classroom
- The school's faculty will meet immediately following the parties. Thanks for expediting clean-up and departing the classrooms by 2:15 pm.
- Regular dismissal will be in affect - Maternelle students will be sent to the playground at pick-up and students in CP and up will go to the auditorium for regular dismissal procedures.
- If you plan to leave with your child(ren) after the party, please remember to check them out using your code as usual!
Vision & Hearing Screenings-Fri., Nov. 2
AIS will offer vision & hearing screenings as well as speech and motor screenings on Nov. 2nd. Consult the flyer that went into student backpacks this week. The State of Texas requires vision and hearing screenings be performed for:
- All new students ages 4 yrs and up
- Children who turned 4* before 9/1/18
- All students in GS (K), CP(1st), CE2 (3rd), CM2(5th), & 5e (7th)
- If you are due for a screening based on the criteria above but are declining the AIS option, you will need to provide a screening record for your child by November 2nd.
- If you elect to screen at AIS, please register here. The cost is $25 per child.
