Fall Fest
Cultural Arts: "A Window In My Heart: A Story About Bullying"
The PTA’s Cultural Arts committee has been working to bring some exciting performances to the school.
Our first artist was Alden Phelps and performed "A Window In My Heart: A Story About Bullying" on Friday, September 20, 2019.
"In this assembly, using music, singing and storytelling Alden Phelps tells tale of a child who gets bullied at school, and how he stops it, with help from students and adults. A Window in My Heart: A Story About Bullying is narrated by a man who has the unique job of school custodian on an intergalactic spaceship! All the child characters in a Window in My Heart are fanciful blue aliens, emphasizing the fact that no matter what we look like on the outside, we’re all the same inside."
Please take some time to discuss this performance with your child.

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month
“Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.”
September 15 was the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month which celebrates the accomplishments of Hispanic Americans. Observing Hispanic Heritage Month allows our country to show its recognition and support for the work Latinos did and are doing in helping this country grow through countless contributions as leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and members of our armed forces.
When you enter or leave our school, please take a moment to see the bulletin board which recognizes National Hispanic Heritage month!

Auditions for Child Roles in Glenelg's Fall Play - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Hello Glenelg Feeder Schools!
It’s that time of year again… auditions for Glenelg’s fall play, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, are here and we are excited to include some young actors again in this production!
I am emailing you to share the audition information.
Please, feel free to share this information with specific students or your entire school population. I have included principals, principal’s secretaries, and vocal music teachers in this email! You may absolutely include the information in this email, or have interested families email me directly.
We are looking to include around 7-10 children in this production, from ages 6-13. There are roles/spots for both boys and girls. Some roles have lines, and others are in the ensemble.
Auditions for child roles in Glenelg High School’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Information:
Performances are:
November 21 at 7pm
November 22 at 7pm
November 23 at 2pm and 7pm
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals after school/evenings (a few in October (depending on the role size), rehearsals in November, and then tech week: Nov. 18-20 from 5pm-9pm) These are rough estimates of rehearsals, at this time.
If your child is interested in auditioning, please record a video audition and email it back to kassidy_sharp@hcpss.org by September 23.
Videos:
Please begin the video with your child stating their name, age, grade, school, and height.
They should also share 1-3 fun facts about themselves! (hobbies, favorite movies, past theatre experience, etc. This is a chance for me to get to see their personality a little in a video!)
After this introduction, your child should perform the scene that I have attached in the email. They can read all the lines for the characters Blick, Glick, and Flick. They can imagine these are one character combined, or that they are 3 different characters! Blick, Flick, and Glick are 3 of the 7 dwarves :) (As for the Snow White lines, a parent or sibling or family member or friend can read those lines. They do not have to be on camera, but could read from behind the camera. Absolutely up to you!)
Please include in the body of the email the name of the auditioner (so I have the correct spelling!), the best email to use for contact, and if there are any specific conflicts you might have (ex. Cannot rehearse Tuesday evenings because of soccer, will be on vacation Nov. 1-5, etc.) All audition videos should be emailed by September 23.
Our in-person, callback auditions will take place at Glenelg on Wednesday, September 25 at 4pm. I will email you on 9/24 to let you know if we need to see your child at those auditions. (not everyone will be needed)
The cast list email will come out by Tuesday, October 1.
(If it is anything like last year, we will have over 40 kiddos auditioning for only 10 roles......ahhhhhhhh)
Please email me if you have any questions!
Thanks!
