Word of the Day:
Word of the Day
Starting Monday, October 26th we have started to do something a little bit different with the Word of the Day. The Word will be presented each day during the Morning Announcements, and any student who uses the word correctly at any point throughout the day after 10:00am will get a wolf!
*The Word of the Day for Monday, October 26th was ABILITY. Ability is the power to do something; having a natural talent or an acquired skill. It is what you are capable of doing. For example, I could say that our all of the students at Eli Whitney have the ability to make me smile.
*The Word of the Day for Tuesday, October 27th was MATHEMATICIAN. A mathematician is an expert in math or a student of mathematics. We could say that Mrs. Bellafronte and Mrs. Slattery are mathematicians because they are experts in math.
*The Word of the Day for Thursday, October 29th was RESPONSIBLE. Being responsible is having an obligation to do something or having control over or care for someone as part of a job or role. Responsibility means being dependable, making good choices, and taking accountability for your actions.
*The Word of the Day for Friday, October 30th was EQUAL GROUPS. Equal groups are groups that have the same amount of an item, or the same number of objects in that group.
We appreciate your help at home to reinforce these vocabulary words with your students!

We will make sure that that are safely returned to our shelves for our classrooms and students to access.

NURSES ' NEWS
On Friday evening families have signed up for our first outside family activity to be held at Collins Creamery. This activity was sponsored with the understanding that we remain in small groups, social distance, and wear masks. With so much excitement in the air, we want to send a friendly reminder that we cannot accept any goodie-bags of food items to share with the classrooms from home at this time. Any items shared must be cleared by the nurse as safe for the students receiving them. This includes non-food items, as we must isolate these items for a specific amount of time before use. Therefore, we are requesting that no items to be shared at this time.
As always, we want to thank all families for the continued support of our school.
Covid-19 Building Protocols Updates- Subject to change as guided by the State of Connecticut
If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive…
YOU MUST BEGIN TO QUARANTINE AS SOON AS YOU ARE NOTIFIED.
If you decide to get tested, notify your PCP to request a PCR test (not a Rapid test) 4-5 days after your last contact with the known positive person and begin self-isolation. All siblings and family members must self-isolate until you receive negative results. If you receive negative results but display symptoms, you must isolate for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms. You may return when you are fever-free for 24 hours. If you receive negative results with no symptoms, you must remain home in self-quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure to the person diagnosed. Siblings may return to school when negative results are received. If you receive positive test results and are displaying symptoms, you must stay in self-isolation for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms and until at least 24 hours have passed with no fever-reducing medications, improvement in other symptoms and a negative test. Siblings will need to quarantine. If you receive a positive test, but are not displaying symptoms, you must stay home until 10 days have passed since the date of the positive COVID-19 test and a negative test has been obtained. Siblings will need to quarantine.
If you decide not to get tested and are not experiencing symptoms, it is required that you stay home for 14 days from your last exposure and are able to return to school as long as you do not develop symptoms. All siblings must stay home.
If you decide not to get tested and are experiencing symptoms, you are required to self-isolate at home for at least 10 days from the onset of symptoms. You may return when you are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications and when other symptoms have improved. All siblings must stay home for 14 days.
If you have not been in close contact with any known positive cases, but are having COVID symptoms, please contact your PCP. You must do one of the following
- Get a note from the doctor clearing you to return to school, or
- Receive a negative PCR test (and provide those results to the school nurse and the office), or
- Self-isolate for 10 days AND symptoms are resolved for 24 hours.
All siblings in district must stay home until negative results are obtained or everyone must complete self-isolation.
