The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Spring Term 1 - Issue 1
A word from Mr Broom.
I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas holiday break. I did, once the dreaded lurgy passed! It's been a lovely week in school. The children have returned with a real buzz for learning seen in many classes. Long may it continue.
Our Personal Learning & Thinking Skill Focus for this half term is 'Creative Thinker' and I lead an assembly on this on Tuesday which led nicely into our Big Bang whole school project launch around Magic. We had circus performers join us for the day, working with each class to engage and enthuse the children with a sense of awe and wonder. Throughout the rest of this half term, magic will be at the centre of learning.
Thank you to everyone who completed the parent questionnaire which was on the final issue of last half term. It's still below so if you would like to complete it if you haven't already done so, that would be most helpful.
Finally, enjoy the weekend and we look forward to next week which looks very exciting.

Train to Teach with the STAR Alliance
If you thought that you’d missed the chance to train as a teacher, perhaps it is time to think again –with the School Direct programme through STAR Teaching School Alliance, you could train to become a teacher in a local primary school in less than a year.
For those interested, please see the attachment below.
Attendance
Congratulations to our Year 6 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 100%.
As you can see below, our attendance in most classes is above the national average which is fantastic. Thank you for your support on this.
The overall attendance this term is 97.2% and is above national averages. Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
