Introducing, Despereaux!
The Library Mascot
Our librarian, Ms. Sanchez, was awarded with a grant to fund a library mascot. Students voted to name the hamster. The options were Fudge (Superfudge by Judy Blume), Despereaux (Tale of Despereaux by Kate Dicamillo), and Libro (spanish translation: book).
The name Despereaux received the most votes! Despereaux is a dwarf hamster so he is very small. Did you know hamsters are nocturnal? They sleep during the day and play at night!
The goal of this grant is to provide students with the opportunity to read with a friend, practice responsibility, and understand the importance of animal care. Thank you Petsmart!
Bluebonnet Bash
‪Bluebonnet Bash! The students ate lunch, voted & shared their favorite Bluebonnet nominees! The book Roller Girl was their top pick! We can't wait to see who the final winner is based on all student readers in Texas! ‬
