IT'S A Marvelous Monday at JSE!
Good evening, JSE Families,
We began our day with a news broadcast by 5th grade student leaders viewed on our classroom SMARTboards. This week we highlight and thank our 4th and 5th grade leaders. We continue to build them up as our student leaders and role models through peer activities, student leadership roles, and Challenge Ed teamwork lessons. Every student has a gift to give back to our JSE schoolhouse. Whether our students are reading buddies, techie buddies, office aides, bus leaders, student council reps, or library aides, just to name a few; we recognize their role and belonging in our schoolhouse.
Progress Reports go home Thursday. This is an excellent gauge for you to see how your child is progressing thus far and what his or her areas of strength and weakness are. This is where our partnership is put to the test. How can you work with your teacher to address your child's needs at home and how can we support you in this challenge? Please communicate with your child's teacher through e-mail or phone. Parent Teacher Conferences will be one day this school year, October 7th..
Our first PTO meeting of the year was a success, welcoming many new faces! We are still in search of event volunteers! Please consider helping for one event or activity through our PTO! Interested please e-mail our PTO at johnsimatovichpto@gmail.com. A flyer will be sent home for the upcoming Campfire and Hayride Family Night!!
JSE is an AWESOME place to spend your days!

ILEARN in the Media
and you can access our State Superintendent, Dr. McCormick's comments on the ILEARN at this link: https://www.doe.in.gov/news
As you have likely heard the media buzzing with information regarding the results and rigor of the new ILEARN assessment, we want you to know our focus is always growth of the whole child, and we know our children are more than just one score from one test, and we will continue to give them opportunities to grow and realize success in all areas of their lives.
With that being said, I am proud to say on behalf of our schoolhouse and district, we scored in the top-15 districts in the state of Indiana and out performed the state average at every grade level! We preach a growth mindset and continuous improvement at our schoolhouse and we will follow this by utilizing ILEARN as another piece of information to inform our instruction to continue to achieve academic excellence.
4th and 5th grade Parents: Please remember to access your child's ILEARN reports through your Harmony Parent Portal. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or me at anytime.
Always Proud to Be a Bearcat!
