Kellond Elementary

February Newsletter

Hello Kellond Families

Thank you to all of you who joined us for Math and Science Night. It was a wonderful night for family and friends together. We want to extend an extra thank you to the PTO who helped our teacher team pull off such a great success. Our Science Fair entries are being judged this week and we will announce the winners moving on to SARSEF soon.

Our first Principal of the Day spent her day busy in the office last week. This coming week our second winner will have run of the office. If you visit the school and find a very young administrator, make sure to say hello. In addition, the Teacher of the Day winners had a busy week last week with their classes. We can't wait to see who wins the honors next year.

Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th. These conference times are reserved for students with the greatest need, however all are welcome. If you have not received information, but would like an appointment, please reach out to your classroom teacher. During conferences, students will be dismissed at 12:25pm after a short lunch. Please make arrangements for your child at that time as staff will not be available for supervision.

The last week of the month, our students in grades second through fifth will have their last reading and math benchmark testing to prepare for the state testing. This is a great opportunity for teachers and students to see what still needs to be learned. As always, please help your child be present for the greatest learning opportunity.

It has been very cold in the mornings. Thank you for bundling up your child, however if they come home without their cute coat, please check out our lost and found by the cafeteria.

February always goes so fast! We know it will be a great month for learning and fun!

Ms. Meneguin

Student Council

A huge thank you to Student Council for the physics rings purchased for Math and Science Night. Students were given one and taught the "trick" for making the ring "jump" onto the chain. Keep practicing. :)
