It seems like just yesterday I was handing out diplomas to our graduating Class of 2022. Time flies and it is now mid August with a new school year upon us! There is a ton of information included in this newsletter so please read it carefully and call if you have questions. We want all of our students coming back to school refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for the new year.

Welcome back to Thomas High School!

A yellow copy of student schedules is being mailed home today. Beginning on Monday, August 15th the parent portal will be active so you can view it on your mobile device as well. The yellow copy will not have any study hall assignments on it. Students will receive a new Blue copy on opening day with any updated room assignments including study halls. All students 9-11 will have assigned study halls with unassigned time being a senior only privilege. Homerooms are listed on each schedule, but we will start opening day in a student's block one class. Homerooms are rarely used and listed for administrative purposes.

Once you receive your schedule, feel free to have your students stop in anytime to walk their schedule, find and set up their locker and get ready for opening day. We have found this alleviates coming back to school jitters that students may have. We also have a designated Locker Night which has become a popular back to school activity for students and families.

This year the district is excited to offer our families a one stop shop for parent communication. Regardless of school or grade level, Parent Square will be the communication tool to use to stay informed. Here is a resource to help you get up to speed on Parent Square:

On Wednesday, August 24th we welcome our Freshmen parents and students to the school auditorium for our Freshmen Orientation at 7pm. Meet the administrative team, school counselors and other important staff who will help guide through your four years at Thomas High School. Can't make it...no worries. The presentation slides will be posted on our school website the following morning.

On Thursday, August 25th we have our Link Crew Orientation for students only. Please drop off your freshman at the front doors and we will take it from there. The orientation goes from 8-12pm.

Come on in next Thursday, September 1st in the evening from 6-8pm for our annual Locker Night. Get set up for the first day of school, walk your schedule one more time. Hang out with some of your friends!!

Mark your calendars!! Join us for a good ol' fashioned kickball game under the lights on the turf in our new nBaseball Stadium on September 19th from 7:30-8:30pm. Our 100 strong Link Crew will be there to cheer all our freshmen on and keep the fun going in the 2022-2023 school year. These games are designed for all students to have fun and not be ultra competitive!!

As part of the district’s Transforming Learning through Technology initiative, student devices are replaced every three years. All student devices will be replaced this year. The new Chromebooks for Webster CSD students grades 6-12 will be available for pick up at Willink Middle School, 900 Publishers Parkway, during the following dates and times:

Monday, August 22

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 23

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 24

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 25

11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

If you are unable to attend one of these dates to pick up your child’s device, student devices will be delivered directly to the students during the first week of school. Students aren’t required to attend the pick-up days.

As part of the Transforming Learning Through Technology initiative, Webster CSD will continue to offer families a Chromebook User Agreement (linked below) that ensures protection of the device if it is accidentally damaged. The cost for the Chromebook User Agreement Policy and

12th grade student- $10

11th grade student- $20

3rd through 10th grade student- $30

Parents/guardians may pay online for the Chromebook User Agreement online at myschoolbucks.com. They may also pay in person during the Chromebook distribution dates. Check, cash, or credit card will be accepted.

ALL students begin their first day of classes on Tuesday, September 6 at 8:45 a.m. Students will start in their first block class and we will then follow an “A day” schedule. Students will receive an updated blue schedule to replace the yellow one mailed home. The Blue schedule will include study hall room numbers. Students will NOT be reporting to homeroom.

Seniors with late arrival on A days do not need to come in for first block. Students who attend EMCC will need to be at Thomas at the following times and locations:

-The bus for EMCC leaves Thomas HS at 7:25 from the north cafe doors.

-The bus for Perinton Ambulance & New Visions Educational leaves at 7:20 from the north cafe doors.

-The bus for New Visions Medical leaves at 7:20 from the front bus loop.

However, students in the New Visions Program at St. Ann's Home and General Hospital are allowed to drive. If students need a bus to get to Thomas, please check the Parent Portal for pick up times.

Information will be going out in the coming week on Open House 2022. Save the date on Thursday, September 8th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. We will be doing this in the open format model to stagger arrivals and cut down on hallway traffic. Parents will be free to walk their Titan's schedule, meet the teachers and learn about all the great things we will be doing at Thomas this year.

Webster Show Choir will be having auditions on Monday, September 12th at 3:45 in the Schroeder auditorium. Show Choir rehearses on Mondays after school. Any one is welcome - kids should wear appropriate attire to dance in, and we will teach them the rest! A shuttle bus will be provided from Thomas to Schroeder.
