Principal Update

November 16th - 20th

Teacher of the Year

Tara Gilmore will be recognized at the Rock Hill Chamber breakfast on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Thanks, Tara for representing us well!

Family Nights

Last year the staff decided instead of having separate Literacy and Math nights that this year we would combine our teams and have four integrated family nights. It is important to have activities that involve our families while promoting our vision, "Our school values learning, achievement, collaboration, and responsibility as cornerstones of our learning community." If you did not attend our family night in October and you aren't able to attend on this Thursday, please put January 28, 2016 on your calendar. This will be our 3rd family night and you will be expected to attend. The fourth and final family night will be on March 24, 2016. A special thank you to everyone who has helped organize and execute these energizing events!

Expectations

Please revisit the employee handbook by Friday, December 4th.

Professional development

We will meet in the media center on Tuesday at 2:50 p.m. I will share a few important items that were discussed at our last District Leadership meeting and Hope and Rose will share information from the district report card meeting that they attended last week. We will break into K-2 and 3-5 for them to share. Teams will have time to touch base if needed.

The professional development on December 1st will facilitated be by Connie and Michele.

Professional Employee Profile

Please come by my office today or tomorrow to pick up your PEP. You will need to sign the checklist to indicate that you have received your PEP. Check your PEP for accuracy. If you have questions about any of the data, you may contact Sonya Horne at extension 1092.

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday, November 17th.

Thanksgiving meal

All students will be served a Thanksgiving lunch on Monday, November 23rd. Parents, Grandparents and guardians of kindergartners, second and fourth grades are being invited to eat lunch with their child(ren). To allow our cafeteria staff the opportunity to thoroughly clean the kitchen, students will be served bag lunches on Tuesday, November 24th.

I am very thankful for the staff that we have at Lesslie! Let's continue to put children first! Beth has put up a board outside of the cafeteria. Turkey cut outs are in the work room. Please write something or someone that you are thankful for and either put the turkey on the bulletin board or give it to the person. Thanks, Beth!

Tutoring

Morning tutoring will be provided by the Indian Grant again this year. Mrs. Gilmore and Mrs. Redmond will be offering tutoring on Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Please refer students that need assistance to this program.
