Meet Ms. Almgren-Our School Library Media Specialist

My name is Maggie Almgren, and I am the Library Media Specialist at Fordham! Before becoming the librarian, I was a teacher in Marion County, teaching kindergarten and first grade for the last seven years. I grew up right down the road from our school. I graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!).

I love hanging out with our students in the library and around the school. Sharing my love of books and learning has become my favorite part of my job. Reading strengthens learners by building background knowledge and encouraging creative thought.

When I don't have my nose in a good book, I enjoy crafting, going to Disney World, riding my horses with my mom, and hanging out with my dog, Kylo.

Thank you for the opportunity to build relationships and teach your children.

It's Official....

We are licensed to work with the Marion Afterschool Program to offer extended day opportunities for Fordham students for the 2023-2024 school year. This will also include aftercare programming for incoming VPK students. More information, including fee rates, will be sent in the near future.

March Calendar

The March Monthly Calendar has been printed and will be sent home for your convenience. The calendar can also be referenced using the link below.

We Need Your Help!

In April, the bunny will be making his way to Fordham Early Learning Academy to leave eggs for all the students. The bunny needs small individually wrapped candy (no chocolate) or small trinkets to fill all the eggs. We will be accepting donations from March 20-31, and we thank you for your continued support of our school.

If you are interested in helping fill eggs at the school, please get in touch with Linda Spencer at 352-671-4925.

Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser Night

Mark your calendars. We are planning a Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser night on Thursday, March 9. Families are invited to Chuck E. Cheese between 3:00-9:00 P.M. to purchase food and/or play games. Fordham staff will join the fun between 4:30-6:30 P.M. We hope you can celebrate with us while our school earns 20% of the profits between 3:00-9:00 P.M. that evening.
