PCC Connect

Creating fully-formed followers of Jesus Christ!

January 22, 2021

Note from the Pastor

Dear Pittsford Community Church Family,

Communication. It’s the key to successful marriages. It’s also important for the health of the church. We try to make every effort to communicate with you effectively. Our weekly Connect is central to this goal. Thanks for reading and for clicking on the tiles that have even more information about events and ministries. This Sunday (12:15) we’re holding a Town Hall Meeting for those interested in learning more about the proposals, officers, and budgets that we vote on during our official Congregational Meeting on Sunday, January 31 (6:00 pm). In this week’s Connect you’ll see the details. Thanks for reading, and thanks for praying!

Pastor Dana

P.S.— Take a moment to listen to this week’s Pastoral Visit video about a worrying about time.

Director of Children’s Ministries

Congratulations to Elaine Pragle who will become our new Director of Children’s Ministries later this month. She and Laura Thurston will have a couple of weeks of overlap to transition smoothly. We so appreciate Laura’s great ministry over the past seven-plus years and look forward to Elaine’s further work in helping ordinary children become fully formed followers of Jesus Christ.

Change in Electronic Giving Method

On January 1st, 2021, we began implementing the Giving function of PCO (Planning Center Online). If you have been giving on Easy Tithe, you will need to switch to using Giving and access it either from the Church Center app (free download from your app store that interacts with our church platform PCO) or the PCC website www.pittsfordcc.org. Easy Tithe access & usage ended on Dec. 31st.

Safety First

We want to remind ourselves that, for everyone’s safety and in compliance with state guidelines, those who attend services and small groups in person at PCC should wear masks and maintain six-foot social distancing between families. Masks must be worn during class times and during services (except when the congregation is seated for the sermon).

ROAD TO MEMBERSHIP

Our newest 12-week membership class will be held on Sunday mornings, 10:00-11:00, via Zoom beginning February 14. David and Carlene Huang will lead you through basic spiritual formation, the church’s mission, and the steps to membership. Register online at www.pittsfordcc.org and you’ll receive a link to the class, as well as class notes. Membership is like joining a family. Why not join this year?

Baby Bottle Boomerang for Care Net of Wayne County

This is a perfect opportunity to model and teach giving to your family members. Pick up a baby bottle, and take it to your Sunday School class, home, or wherever you can place it for this ministry. Over the next several weeks fill it with your spare change (green bills and checks are accepted). Bring your bottles back to PCC (hence the boomerang) no later than March 28th. May God bless you as you take a stand for life! If questions/concerns, contact CareNet: 1141 E. Union St., Newark; 315-573-7833 or mail@carenetofwaynecounty.com

Service Opportunity/Needs

Vehicle Needed—Ben Kronk, formerly a student at Eastman School of Music and an active participant at PCC, now lives in the Chicago area and is in need of a car for transportation to work. The family requests prayer. In addition, his parents who are missionaries with Christar wrote, “If someone has a vehicle that they are no longer using (perhaps an aging parent, etc.) who would be willing to sell (to Ben) or donate the vehicle to Christar (our mission) for the tax benefit” that would help meet this need. Contact Charity Akowuah if you can help.

Red Cross Blood Drive - PCC is reaching out to see if any church member/attender might be interested in sponsoring two blood drives this spring here at PCC. The Red Cross would like to hold them here possibly on April 16th and June 24th. Blood drives continue to cancel through the winter and spring and every blood drive will help to maintain our national blood supply. If interested, please contact the church office and they will give you details (248-8260).

Community Outreach

This January, we are becoming everyday missionaries through the practical sharing of food with neighbors, and heartfelt written words of encouragement and appreciation to those we interact with regularly. Find out more about how to better engage the community around you with the love of God by clicking the Missions Link. We are also looking for PCCer’s to share their stories about how they have engaged in Outreach and MI throughout the past year.

Weekly Women's Bible Studies

New Studies begin this month. Click on the link below for details on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday studies or click on the "Women Together" Newsletter tile above.

PCC RADIO PROGRAM

PCC’s connection and broadcast ministry over Z98.3 is helping to get the word out about our ministries and about God’s Word. Our weekly radio program, Transforming Truth, can be heard each Sunday at 7:00 pm at 98.3FM.

Download the PCC App

PCC has begun using an app for attenders to "check-in" their attendance at services and communicate upcoming events! The App is called Church Center. It is free to download and easy to use. Simply go to the app store on your smartphone and download the “Church Center” app. Find Pittsford Community Church by using your location or typing in Pittsford to the search bar and sign into the app using your personalized log in information. If you have trouble logging in or if you don’t see members of your family on the check-in screen please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pastor Chris (arcadi@pittsfordcc.org) or the church office (mail@pittsfordcc.org)!
