The Beat Goes On...
23/24 Instrumental Music Update (grade 5) - Sept
"A good musical education isn't about training prodigies for world-class performance; it's to expand young minds for whatever profession they pursue."
--Robin Donica Wolaver (leader of the Annie Moses Band)
WELCOME ABOARD!
I am thrilled to be starting this journey with you & your excited children! Each week in the newsletter you will read about what we are doing in class, what students should be doing at home, and how you can be the magic that propels their success! No music knowledge necessary, though a cheerleading background may be helpful LOL. 😁
ORGANIZATIONAL INFO
- Students & parents: Sign and return the paper version of the contract. Signed contracts due Fri. 9/22. Printable link below in the buttons or paper copies are available for students to pick up in the band room.
Please make sure students have all the necessary equipment & supplies as quickly as possible, but no worries if this doesn't happen for the first rotation. More on this next! :-)
SUPPLIES
- PUT YOUR STUDENTS' FIRST AND LAST NAMES ON ALL SUPPLIES, pretty please. ;-)
Instruments must be standard colors (e.g. flute=silver, etc.)
- Binder size: one-inch 3-ring binder with pockets. The size is important as smaller/larger ones will tear the pages of their books. I have a couple extras; if needed let me know.
- Folding stands will stay at home.
Information about obtaining an instrument can be found here (supply page on the band website, also in the buttons). Options include renting, purchasing, etc. If finances are an issue, please contact Mrs. Timura directly.
If you are working through Pellegrino music store, they will deliver instruments to the school on Tuesdays. I will keep it here in the band room until students have their first class here at school.
If you already have an instrument your student will be using, please make sure to take it to a qualified dealer or repair person to overhaul and/or place in playing condition prior to giving the instrument to a beginner. An instrument that is difficult to play or out-of-alignment will present major challenges.
