Why did Lewis and Clark make this trip?

Thomas Jefferson wanted to see what the lands of the western North America were like. Jefferson's curiosity was scientific and political. Also to study a new route to the pacific.

Plants

One of the plants Lewis and Clark ran into was the Sweet Grass plant.This was used to make perfume. It was also used to braid into necklaces, and bracelets.

It was also applied as a topical medicine for superficial wounds and skin problems.

Animals

Also on there journey they found many new animals. One of the animals they found was the Mule Deer. You may think it looks like a White tail deer, but the differences between them are the size of the ears. Also a Mule Deer has a black tail, and its antlers look like "forks".
