Principal's Message
Dear Lincoln Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. With just about eight weeks of school remaining, plenty of learning remains, so this time of year typically feels like a steady sprint through the finish line.
This Wednesday, April 20, students in grades 9 - 11 will receive an enrollment packet for the 2022 - 2023 school year. Parents must complete the packet and return it to the school with your student by May 4th. Students must turn their enrollment packet to their Advisory teacher or Welcome Center.
State Testing
California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) testing has resumed. All 11th grade students will take the English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science Assessments in May. All 12th graders will take the science assessment. The testing schedule is as follows:
English Language Arts - Week of May 9
Mathematics - Week of May 16
Science - Week of May 23
Paid Internship Opportunity for Students age 16 and Older
This spring Junior Achievement of San Diego has partnered with Lincoln High School to provide students with a 8-session program and week-long paid internship equipping students with the foundational knowledge of the local economy, personal finances, career pathways, and work-readiness. In concert with San Diego business leaders, JA’s Spring Paid Internship Program creates a platform for participants to gain the necessary skills to thrive in San Diego’s economy. We will have another information session for students this Tuesday, April 19 during lunch in the theater. See this FLIER for more details.
Free PRONTO Bus Passes for all students under 18!
The city is piloting a program where any student can register for a FREE PRONTO BUS PASS! Here is the link. Please encourage your student to register and use one as this is a pilot program and will not continue if there is no demand.
Class of 2022 - Senior Activities
- Prom will take place on Saturday, May 14th 6:30-10:30pm at Mission Bay Hyatt Regency. Tickets sold in the finance office
- Senior Awards will take Wednesday, June 8th 4:30-5:30pm at Lincoln Theater
- Senior Family Sunset Dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 8th 5:30-7:00pm Lincoln Lawn between the 500-600 building.
- Graduation will take place on Tuesday, June 14th 2:00-3:30 pm at the Lincoln Football Stadium. Each graduate will receive 6 Free tickets for family and guests ages 5 and up. We have a limited amount of additional tickets for purchase in the finance office for $10.00 a ticket. A limit of 6 additional tickets per graduate can be purchased in advance in person at the Lincoln Finance Office or using THIS LINK. First come, first served.
Free YMCA Membership for Lincoln Students
Lincoln students can join the After School Teen Center at the Jackie Robinson YMCA through June 14 at NO COST. This opportunity includes a YMCA membership, free bus pass, STEM and Literacy activities and a snack. See flier for more information. Students must present a current Lincoln High School ID to enroll. Students may see Ms. Mitchell in the Welcome Center if they need an ID.
Summer School
Students who earned a D or F in any classes required for graduation will automatically be enrolled in Summer School. Students will have the opportunity to earn up to four credits during a 6 week program (two three 3-week sessions), 4 hours/day. Program dates are June 21 - July 29, 2022

Session 2 - July 11 - July 29
Please contact your student’s counselor directly if you have any questions about your student being enrolled in summer school as well as opportunities for acceleration.
Workforce Wednesday
We have developed a partnership with San Diego City College to introduce Lincoln students to the variety of certificate programs offered at our local junior college. Each Wednesday, instructors from City College come to Lincoln High School to present information about a specific program of study. Below is the list of programs . Parent Foundation
We are developing a partnership with the Lincoln High School Alumni Association to launch the Lincoln High School Family Foundation. The official launch of the LHS Family Foundation is scheduled to begin in the 2022 - 2023 School Year.
LHS Family Foundation will be composed of current and former parents and guardians of Lincoln High School Students. The goals of the LHS Family Foundation will be to:
Establish and maintain a set of bylaws for the LHS Family Foundation
Facilitate and enhance communication between families and the school
Work in partnership with LHS to provide parent education regarding college and career readiness and social issues that affect our students
Assist in fundraising for the school to provide school programs and capital items not paid for by the San Diego Unified School District
Develop a parent ambassador program

L6 - SATURDAY SCHOOL
"L6" Lincoln 6th Day of School (also known as Saturday School) is an additional instructional day offering academic support in various core subject areas to help students reach their academic goals. L6 program is designed based on the need of the school community and students registered to attend. L6 provides instruction for a minimum of four (4) hours 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and must conform to the regular minimum school day requirements. A nutritious meal provided by SDUSD’s Food Services Department will be offered to all participating students during the instructional day.
Currently L6 will be offering Math and English support for those students that need extra help. In the near future, we will be implementing additional core subject curriculum, including
but not limited to physical education, arts, music, theatre, online learning, robotics, technology, etc. to help support specific student needs.
Students attending may make up all day school absents and class tardies, while participating in the L6 instructional day.
L6 participation is made available to all students on a voluntary
basis and is funded by sites recovering Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for
full day absences.

COVID Information from the School Nurse
This is our current process for sick students.
Students sick with any of these symptoms should stay home, or will be sent home from school:
☐ Fever with or no chills > 100.0F
☐ Cough*
☐ Shortness of breath
☐ Nasal congestion/Rhinorrhea (Runny Nose)*
☐ Sore Throat
☐ Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea*
☐ Fatigue*
☐ New Loss of Taste/Smell
☐ Headache*
☐ Muscle/Body Aches*
☐ Poor Feeding or Poor Appetite*
If your student has any of these symptoms, please isolate your student at home and follow these steps to return to school:
*If your student has a chronic pre-existing condition that causes these symptoms, your student may come to school if a “Certification of Chronic Medical Condition” form is on file. Due to these symptoms, please isolate your student at home and follow these steps:
• Your student may return 24 hours after symptoms are improving and no fever with a negative COVID-19 PCR-NAAT test (please note: Antigen and at-home tests are not allowed)
o You may send a copy of the result to your school health office mliwanag@sandi.net
• If you do not wish to get a COVID-19 test, your student must stay home for 10 days after their symptom(s) first began, if their symptoms are better and no fever for 24 hours before returning to school without fever reducing medications
• If your student’s symptoms are severe or are not improving after 24 hours, please contact your family doctor or 211 if you do not have a doctor for follow-up and care
• Please send your student to the health office when returning to campus after being out.
• If your student tested positive in the last 90 days and again has new symptoms at this time, please call your family doctor and ask what to do next. Your student may return to school 10 days after their new symptoms started, or when your doctor says it is ok to return.

DISTRICT MESSAGE ABOUT ATHLETIC PHYSICALS
2021-22 athletic physical packets have officially been posted to www.athleticclearance.com as of Tuesday, June 1, 2021. The San Diego Unified School District is offering a one year grace period where the physicals for the 2021-22 school year are acceptable one year from their date of clearance; however in the 2022-23 school year, all physicals will need to be completed after June 1st to be covered for the entirety of the 2022-23 school year

MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Team at Lincoln provides proactive academic, social-emotional and behavioral strategies for students with various needs.
You can assist students in receiving the supports they need to be successful by emailing their counselor for academic support or refer students using the Intervention Referral Form on the counseling website for social-emotion and basic needs.
Reasons to Complete the Intervention Referral Form:
-If a student is struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self harm or any other mental health issues
- If a student is going without basic needs (housing, food, hygiene products, clothing, etc.)
- If a student has a general health issues (vision, sick visit, hearing, etc.)
Nursing & Wellness
Sick and symptomatic students must not come to school. Please contact the School Nurse if your student has a chronic condition she needs to be aware of. Please contact the School Nurse Ms.Bree Williamson at bwright3@sandi.net or at (619) 266-6500 ext. 3050 or the Health Technician Ms. Deen Liwanag at mliwanag@sandi.net or at (619) 266-6500 ext. 2137. Please contact our attendance office and report your student’s absence if he/she/they are unable to attend classes in person or on-line.
Testing Information for Students
All families are now required to make a choice on Covid testing at the start of the new school year. Every family must complete the below form and submit their response online at this time. Free Covid testing in school not only helps prevent the spread of the virus, but it also helps more students stay in school and continue their education.
To opt-in for testing for your child, please complete the COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form on PowerSchool. Please Note: A PowerSchool Username and Password will be required to complete this form. If you do not have the Access ID and Password for your student, please contact Ms. Jarvis at ejarvis@sandi.net to obtain this information.
