80's Day!

Friday, January 10th is the 80th day of school, and in celebration of this, we will have a 80's theme day at Pattie. Staff and students are encouraged to embrace the 80's and dress up. We'll also have a school-wide performance of the Electric Slide at the end of the day! It's going to be rad!

PARTY Time!

Pattie's PARTY (Panthers All Reading Together...Yea!) has begun its second book of the school year. During this time, the entire school reads the same book over the course of a couple of weeks. The book is aligned to the common, school-wide skills being taught and it is featured and discussed several times over the morning announcements. Each classroom also participates in a common, school-wide project that corresponds with the theme. The book that we are reading is Turning Pages: My Life Story by Sonia Sotomayor. Aside from being a non-fiction book, the moral is that everyone has unique events in their lives that makes us who we are and allows us to dream big. We encourage families to share in this with your student by reading and enjoying the same book at home.

PTCO (Parent/Teacher Cooperative Organization)

We need you!! You are all encouraged to participate in Pattie's PTCO! Pattie's PTCO Board does a tremendous job raising funds to support the school, as well as planning and executing events, such as: the Fall Festival, Spirit Night, Movie Night, Ice Cream Social, Family Bingo and more! Attending meetings is a great way to give feedback and input into future events and perhaps lend a hand so that our students can continue to enjoy all these great events. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in Pattie's Library. The next meeting is Tuesday, January 21st. Follow the PTCO on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Johnfpattie/about/

Substitutes Needed!

Would you like to be a part of the Pattie Family as a staff member? Pattie is in need of reliable, substitute teachers to ensure that students have productive days of learning when their teacher is absent. Anyone who is interested in becoming a substitute must first apply through PWCS, here: https://www.pwcs.edu/cms/one.aspx?pageId=4559650

After you have completed the application process, please let our Secretary, Mrs. Orta know that you would like to start subbing, and she will walk you through the process. Please call the front office with any questions!

Strings and Chorus

On December 10th, Pattie's 5th Grade Strings Ensemble and 4th/5th Grade Chorus put on an amazing winter concert! It's incredible to see how much they learn in such a short amount of time! Our awesome teachers, Ms. Garrison and Ms. Baughman, have done a great job - not only preparing students for their performance, but also helping kids to love and enjoy music.

Pattie's Snack Pantry

Our Snack Pantry, developed by two of Pattie's students, is in need of donations. We are asking for donations of healthy snacks through the Amazon wishlist, included on the flyer below. These donations are provided to children who come to school without snacks, which prevents teachers from buying snacks themselves. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Reading Mentors

Pattie Reading Mentors serve as a mentor for students in need of positive literacy experiences with an adult. Mentors will be paired with a student with whom they will read, and form a relationship, with over time. Please follow the link for more information and to sign up! You can also visit Pattie's Website, under "About Us" for more information. https://signup.com/go/gKDnYYn

Early Dismissals

Picking your student up right before our dismissal process can cause confusion, and ultimately affect the safety of your child. We need to ensure that all children get home properly and safely; therefore, we are no longer allowing parents to pick up their child after 2:30 pm. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Twitter

Have you ever asked your student what they did in school today only to get a short, uninformative response? Twitter allows a unique opportunity for families to have a daily view into the awesome learning experiences happening throughout the day at Pattie. Twitter is not only an awesome way for us to communicate the variety of learning opportunities that students participate in regularly, but it can also give parents a starting point for engaging their student in conversations about what they're doing in school. Sign up to join and search for #pattiepanthers.
