Message from the Principal
As part of the employee wellness program, the District has created a supplemental position called Wellness Champions at each school. The Wellness Champions will pay an important role in promoting the health and well-being of our staff and students and will be responsible for:
- Organizing and holding healthy school team meeting with stakeholders like parents, community, staff, and students
- Communicating and promoting District and community wellness activities and initiatives (i.e. 5K run, Pathways)
Collaborating, communicating and promoting all school-based wellness activities and initiatives with staff and students
Encouraging participation in and awareness of healthy behaviors
I am pleased to announced that Khris Betten Jutasi (LWTHS) and Pam Wilkin (LWTC) have been named the Wellness Champions for our schools. Reach out to them and share any ideas you have about promoting employee and student wellness. Below is a brief introduction from them.
Khris Betten-Jutasi
Hello my name is Khris and I am your campus’ first Wellness Champion (that title does not describe me personally just yet). I am on my own personal journey to improved wellness and I thought it would be cool to travel this path with all of you. Together we can improve our quality of life through fun competitions and motivational support. I am excited to push our campus to be the fittest it can be! Let me know how I can benefit you in this new role. Cheers!
If you are eager to get started there is a John Clay 5k coming up on September 5th. See link below to sign up.

Pam Wilkin
The reason why I was interested in becoming the Wellness Champion is that in the last year I have lost 25 lbs and now I wish to get myself back in shape. Since I work in Health Sciences, I figure a healthy lifestyle, including healthy eating and exercise should be a "no-brainier". It will be fun having my colleagues and students encourage me and , hopefully, me encouraging them. I look forward to an exciting year and hope you will join me.

Google Drive users - Did you know that you can upload a PDF and after converting it to a Google Doc, you will get an editable version of that PDF - all free? That is helpful when you don’t have the Adobe conversion program. There are some formatting discrepancies in the conversion, but it is quite handy.
A video version of Web on Wednesday’s Build a Board with Board Builder is on the wiki. Feel free to view on your own time and submit your created Board for an MIP. The next WoW will be held on Wed, Sep 9th - again two different sessions (2pm and 2:35pm) with the topic of Searching Tips and Tricks.

Staff and Student Recognition Program
We are excited to implement a "Staff Member of the Month" driven by your nominations. Please take the opportunity to nominate someone who is a great representative of the Lorenzo Walker Campus, who has gone above and beyond, and/or someone who has done something that you appreciated. The sky is the limit! Based on the nominations, we will randomly select one Lorenzo Walker Technical College and one Lorenzo Walker Technical High School staff member each month. The winners will be recognized and receive prizes. Please click on the Padlet link to nominate a staff member for August. Type the name of the nominated staff member in the "Title" portion of the Padlet post and your reasoning in the body of the post.
We will also be implementing a "Student of the Month" using the same format beginning in September. Staff will have the opportunity to nominate by grade level. There will be a Padlet board for 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and Post-Secondary. Feel free to start nominating right away but we won't choose winners until the end of September. Follow the same protocol of putting the student name as the title and reason for nominating in the body of the post.
Spotlight on LWTHS Staff Member
You will never see Donna Huprich with a frown. She is one of the happiest, most positive people at our school! She truly dedicates her life to helping others. She loves to work one on one with students and watch the expression on their face when they finally have mastered a concept. Donna grew up in Buffalo, New York where she loved to snow ski. While working on Capital Hill in Washington DC, she once met singer James Taylor and was impressed with his graciousness and down to earth behavior. Donna exchanged her skis for a boat when she moved to Naples and enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, son, new daughter-in law and adorable dog!
Spotlight on LWTC Staff Member
Fay Warfield has been at Lorenzo Walker for almost twenty two years and is the longest serving support staff member on campus. She has been an active member of the campus Sunshine Club for many years. What you might not know is that she spends her weekends scuba diving for lobster and scallops along the Florida coast. Being a talented cook she usually prepares her catch right on the beach! Fay is a multi- talented person and worked as a banker, grocer and cosmotologist before coming to our campus. She sees her greatest accomplishment as being a good wife, daughter, sister aunt and friend!
Kudos
