Welcome to Apple Valley High School!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Apple Valley High School, we want to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! School begins for our students on August 31st this year. Our first day of school has a special schedule with our 9th-grade students reporting for school at 7:40 am and students in grades 10-12 beginning their day at 11 am. We have arranged bus transportation options for students depending on their schedule for the day.
Apple Valley High School is committed to providing a world-class education. We are a STEM school dedicated to Academics, Arts, and Athletics. Our “STEM for All” approach, combined with our “AAA” philosophy helps us to continue a proud tradition of excellence. We are grateful to our community for supporting our staff and students throughout these challenging times. We are also excited that our school day and year should model the more traditional format that our families and students expect while still being mindful of health and safety.
In this newsletter, we hope to provide you with some basic information and important dates to help you prepare for the school year. We look forward to seeing you at the start of the school year and to working with you to help students add to our school’s tremendous legacy of success. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions. Welcome back and Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Drew Mons, Principal

School Supplies
A "general" school supply list isn't maintained by AVHS. Standard notebooks, pencils, pens, and folders will be useful for all classes. Students will be informed of any specific supply requirements by their teachers. If purchasing school supplies is a hardship for families, please contact your student's counselor. https://avhs.district196.org/families/avhs-counselors
For Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, and Honors Geometry, you will need a scientific calculator. All AP math classes, CLA/DE, and Multivariable Calculus require a graphing calculator. Intermediate Algebra and Geometry students can purchase and use a graphing calculator immediately, which can be used for all subsequent math courses.
Parking Permits
Apple Valley High School issues parking permits for each trimester. The parking fee each trimester is $60 and may be paid on MyPaymentsPlus. All outstanding fees/fines must be paid in full in order to pick up the parking permit tag in the main office.
Students will receive a parking agreement to follow the safety guidelines and map for the parking lot.
Students in need of accessible parking should contact Assistant Administrator Paul Tinder at Paul.Tinder@district196.org or call 952-431-8341. All other questions can be directed to Jackie Preble at 952-431-8224.
