Parent Orientation is our first of many important parent activities we will urge our parents/guardians to attend during the school year. As you can see, there are quite a few boxes to tick prior to the first day of school; it is so much better for everyone if these tasks are completed ahead of the start of school. We encourage every PACE parent attend an orientation session. Please plan to attend one of the sessions, if you are not able to attend, you may send a trusted representative. Masks are required.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- In the July Newsletter we had scheduled a Back to School event for August 6th, that event has been canceled. Please stay tuned for other family events and activities throughout the school year.
- The school building will be closed August 8 - 12, 2022. None of the school staff members will be available at the building. Please feel free to call the school, you must leave a message in order for someone to respond. We will respond as soon as possible.
- Be sure to check out the 2022/2023 School Calendar! Keep in mind that calendars are living documents; ever changing and growing. Visit our website regularly for updates, www.pacek-8.com.

Set Your Family's Goals for Good School Attendance!
Across the country, more than 8 million students are missing so many days of school that they are academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. Tardiness is also an issue, being late to school puts children behind for the day. Tardiness can cause disruptions to the learning process for the entire class. At PACE two instances of tardiness equals one absence.
We have seen the issue of poor attendance grow since the pandemic. It has become a huge problem, but we can solve it together. Watch the Bringing Attendance Home Parent Video linked here: Bringing Attendance Home - Parent Video
Make an Attendance Plan for your child today! Plan to:
- Attend School Everyday
- Be On-time for School Everyday
- Set good habits for bedtime - Healthy Sleep Duration for Kids Chart
- Have a back up plan for when transportation or other issues arise
- Make doctor and dental appointments for times school is not in session (the mobile dentist comes to PACE twice each year)
- Plan family vacations when during scheduled school vacations
- Reach out to Ms. A. Mullen when your child is going to be absent
- Be familiar with our attendance policy and know what types absences are excusable.
- Keep track of your child's attendance on your calendar or PowerSchool; absences and tardies add up quickly.
Remember that time missed from the learning environment is time lost; in the classroom is where meaningful conversations, lectures, and engaging class discussions are had; they cannot be made up or relived. Every PACE scholar deserves the best education available, scholars cannot learn if they are not in school. Attendance matters to the success of your child!
