PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING
Dear Galway Parents/Guardians,
The first two weeks of school have opened with great success and have been among the smoothest openings I have experienced. Students have transitioned quickly to the demands of school and are enjoying being back in the school routines.
The staff, PTA, and I invite you to Back-to-School Night at Galway Elementary School scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2023, for grades K-2 and Thursday, September 14, 2023, for grades 3-5 from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Parents of students in grades 4 & 5 will have an opportunity to meet with the instrumental music teacher, Ms. Lexis Hutchinson, for a parent session from 6:00–6:30 pm in the APR.
The evening will begin in the classrooms with two (2) thirty-minute sessions. Each session is designed to inform families about their child’s instructional program and outline grade-level expectations. Two sessions allow parents to visit more than one grade level. The classroom sessions will not be opportunities for individual student conferences.
Please plan to join us for an evening of education and information.
Session I 6:30-7:05
Session II 7:15-7:50

STEM AT HOME
Opportunities are everywhere for students to continue their explorations of science, technology, engineering, and math. Even with fall soon to start, squeeze in one more summer activity; chances are you already have all the materials at home!

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson. It was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
