The Cardiovascular system
The cardiovascular system is one of the most complicated systems in the body.
The heart
The heart is a important organ about the size of a closed fist that acts as the body’s pump.It takes in deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for oxygenation before pumping it into the various parts (which provide oxygen and nutrients to body tissues by transporting the blood throughout the body). The heart is located in the lungs.
On its bigger end, the base of the heart is attached to the aorta, arteries, veins, and the vena cava. The inferior tip of the heart, rests just superior to the diaphragm . The base of the heart is located along the body’s mid line with the apex pointing toward the left side. Because the heart points to the left, about 2/3 of the heart’s mass is on the left side of the body and the other 1/3 is on the right.
The inferior Vena Cava
The inferior Vena Cava is the largest vein in the human body. It collects blood from veins serving the tissues inferior to the heart and returns this blood to the right part of the heart. Although the vena cava is very large in size, its walls are incredibly thin due to the low pressure exerted by poor blood.
The lungs
The lungs are a pair of large, spongy organs made for gas exchange between blood and the air. Our bodies require oxygen in order to survive. The lungs provide us with oxygen while also removing carbon dioxide before it can reach hazardous levels
The arteriosclerosis diesies
One of the most common diseases of the circulatory system is arteriosclerosis, in which the fat deposits in the arteries causes the walls to stiffen and thicken . According to the Mayo Clinic, the causes are a buildup of fat, cholesterol and other material in the artery walls. This can restrict blood flow or in severe cases stop it all together, resulting in a heart attack or stroke. blood flow or in severe cases stop it all together, resulting in a heart attack or stroke.
