The Great Depression
From 1929-1939, the longest lasting, darkest time occurred and it was considered as The Great Depression. Throughout the decade leading up to the Great Depression, there was economical weakness in farms, car manufacturing, and even residential construction. Each year, the US was falling more and more into debt in stock markets. The Great Depression mainly had to do with the fact of how there were so many people who were unemployed and all of the hardship.
Businesses
During the Great Depression, many businesses looked as though they are closed. This is due to no one not having enough money to even buy food.
Farmers and their Families.
People who were farmers and who had invested into expanding were losing money because of all the unemployment and the money that no one really had.
Families
This is a poor family during the Great Depression. Take notice into how their clothes are ripped and how unhappy they all are.
The American Dream an Ethos of the US
The American Dream was a set of ideals relating to success and/or prosperity that one believes in such as democracy, rights, or liberty. This is where the Declaration of Independence states that all men were created equal in hopes that someday our nation would be completely fair in rights and liberty.
John Steinbeck
Who is John Steinbeck? John Steinbeck is an author with many novels. Besides Of Mice and Men he wrote The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, and The Pearl, just to name a few. For a grand total of twenty-seven books which are sixteen novels, six non-fiction books, and five short story collections.
