Holiday Season Assistance
Occasionally different organizations come to York Junior High wanting to assist our students and families with having a memorable holiday season. Most programs are limited and are based on the resources available. We know that we have families that are in need. Don't hesitate to reach out to your grade level counselor.
If you are a family in need or a family that would like to help someone during the Thanksgiving or Christmas season, please contact your grade level counselor.
Your information is always kept confidential. Please let us know how we can help you!

Generation TX Week Parent Information
During this week we are bringing awareness to options students should pay attention to as they go through their academic journey. All over Texas, students are stepping up, finding their voices, and fueling the movement called Generation TX. With equal parts of inspiration and information, Generation TX (spoken “Generation Texas”) connects us to each other and clarifies the steps we need to take on the path to college and career education, from taking the right classes and tests, to applying to colleges, and then finding the money to pay for school. Please help us celebrate during this week through our feeder zone dress up days listed below.
Discussion for the week...
Monday - Discuss the financial options for students to take advantage of - scholarships, grants, awards etc.
Tuesday - Discuss benefits of the college experience. From the academics, social, lifelong memories.
Wednesday - Dress for success and discuss the benefits of first impressions and how looking great can help one feel great as well!
Thursday - Discuss how you can make an impact in any profession. Encourage the idea of being a good human.
Friday - Teachers discuss their college experience pointing out how alternative routes and non-traditional routes can still lead to success.
Cognitive Load Theory
What time does your student go to bed?
What time do they complete their academic day?
Do they have multiple assignments?
Do they have multiple activities after school?
If you have answered YES to any question above, you should take a second to read more about Cognitive Overload and how it impacts our students.
