Tribe Classic Information
Friday will be the 7th-Annual Tribe Classic held at Dobyns-Bennett. For those of you that do not know, this is when Sevier and Robinson play their boys and girls' varsity basketball games in front of both student bodies at DB. This is a great day that showcases our dance, cheer, and basketball teams as well as many facets of our school.
Concessions will be sold that morning in the Big Gym before school for $3. Students will bring snack bags to class with them and then take them to the game. There will not be concessions sold at the game.
Buses will start showing up at Sevier at approximately 8:10-8:15. Cheer and dance are going to be dropped off at DB and will not be counted absent.
The first bus will have the Girls' Varsity basketball team and their coaches along with Related Arts teachers (for supervision in the Dome) and Liz McQueen (clock operator). From there, students will be systematically dismissed to the buses. Since the construction at DB is finished, we will be able to drop our students off at the front of the Dome and enter through the main entrance up the ramp. When we enter the Dome from this side, we will sit on the right side of the gym (opposite the benches and scoring table). We are hoping to have everyone from Sevier to DB by 9:00. When the games are finished, we will exit the Dome in the same manner (6th-grade first) and reload the buses in the same place we were dropped off.
Teachers will supervise their own class. RA teachers, IA's, and other faculty need to help their assigned grade levels. The only people staying back at Sevier that day are Stoops and Franklin. Please look for those groups. We have several teachers gone to the Title Conference that day so we will have multiple subs (hopefully) so ALL faculty will need to be supervising and helping.
.
6th - Markl, J. Potts, Collins, Earles, Fissel
7th - Cinnamon, Loudermilk, McKlveen, Dulaneyl
8th - Mullins, Wyatt, Hutson, Hash
Please be aware of kids going to the Restroom and only let them go individually if possible. FYI - DB will have concessions open for teachers and parents ONLY in case you are interested. Not for the students.
Here are the teachers needing coverage and who will cover their kids:
McCormick - Guthrie
Williams - Miller
Hayes - Cheek
Moore - Hilton
When we return from Sevier, we will eat a Bag Lunch. Beginning with 6th-grade, students will go to the cafeteria and pick up their lunch and bring it back to the classroom to eat their lunch. We hope to do this as quickly as possible. What we need to make sure of is that we get complete grade levels back together so they can all eat lunch at the same time. The first bus to return needs to be 6th-grade along with RA teachers because of the afternoon schedule. Here is the afternoon schedule. Please pay attention that it is the 2nd RA of each grade level due to a scheduling need. We will include the 1st RA period in the rotation on the half day before Christmas break. It is up to the individual grades to make up their own schedule/rotation for the remaining time of the day around the RA schedule below. Also, please make sure you have a plan in place as to which class the kids will be reporting to upon returning to JSMS.
12:50 - 1:20 pm - 6th-Grade RA #2
1:25 - 1:55 pm - 8th-Grade RA #2
1:25 - ALL 7th and 8th Grade Band, Orchestra, and Chorus kids will report to their performing arts classes for an extended rehearsal that will last the remainder of the day.
2:15 - 2:45 pm 7th-Grade RA #2
Here is an approximate schedule of how things will work at the Dome once we arrive (hopefully):
9:00 - Girls Warm-Up Begin
9:10 - National Anthem and Starting Lineups
9:15 - Tip-Off Girls Game
Halftime - RNR Cheer then Sevier Dance
Between Games - DB Sparkle Squad
10 minute Warmup for Boys
10:30ish - Tip Off Boys Game
Halftime - Sevier Cheer then RNR Dance
11:40ish Start Heading Back
Tribe Classic Snack Bags!
Friendly Reminders
2. Teachers, please be present in the hallways and active in encouraging students to move along, not loiter, etc. Many issues occur in the hallway and with presence and activity to address issues, we can work to minimize hallway problems.
3. Please contact parents prior to placing studnets on a 2A contract. While it is difficult, if you are having to assign LD or eject a student, those are reasons to contact a parent. Please make an attempt to call or email parents when needed. Often, when parent contact is made, we see significant improvement in behavior. We can't assume because SOME parents do not care, that all parents do not care.
Spelling Bee!
Attention all spellers! The written spelling bee will be held on Tuesday, December 10th immediately after school in the library. This is the qualifying round in order to participate in the John Sevier Spelling Bee in January. Please see your Language Arts teachers for a permission slip and a word study list.

MORNING YOGA
We have an awesome opportunity here at Sevier. VIDA yoga and the cOMmunity collective will be coming to our school on Friday mornings from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. to do yoga in the small gym. It is open to all students and ALL STAFF. We are hoping this will help students as well as staff relax on Friday mornings. I encourage you to come and please encourage your students to do the same
Coffee Cart-Feel Good Friday
Feel Good Friday just keeps getting better! Stephen Baker had the awesome idea to start up a coffee cart for the Warrior Academy kiddos and the FA-3 kiddos to run together on Friday mornings. The cost will be $1.00 per cup, and we have creamers and sweeteners as well!
The funds will just replenish the cart from week to week, but the personal interaction and functional skills the kids are going to learn from this will be invaluable! I am looking forward to watching them grow throughout the year and build relationships with you all through this venture!
I have included the Google Sheet that we will use each week to fill orders. There is a cell for your name, classroom number for 1st period assignments, type of drink, and if you need a disposable cup, or if you'll have your own mug for us to make it in!
Thank you all in advance for your support of this fun idea, and to Baker for getting it all together. I love our big Warrior Tribe!
Thanks again!
Baker and Megan
